Well, if sportsdad60 can post non-bolt action rifles in the bolt-action thread, then so can I! These are my Springfield Trapdoor rifles, all in caliber .45-70: From top to bottom: 1) Marked "Model 1873," made in 1890. 2) Marked "Model 1884," made in 1892. This one has the Buffington rear sight, and is interesting because it also has the ramrod bayonet. See the "cleaning rod" under the barrel that has what looks like a Phillips screwdriver bit on the end? Well, that extends and locks in place to become a bayonet. It doesn't look terribly practical to me, but . . . . 3) Marked "Model 1884," made in 1882 or 1883 if you go by serial number, and marked 1889 on the stock.

Now let's get back to some proper bolt-action rifles. These are my Model 1898 Krag rifles: Top: Made in 1903. Bottom: Made in 1899, includes the bayonet. Both are in really nice condition, and these are a real pleasure to shoot. The .30-40 Krag round is relatively mild so it doesn't beat you up.

Nice Krags! It seems like it should be a law that if you own a trapdoor you SHOULD own a Krag. So I recommend you giving me one of your Krags. :)

While that is a fantastic photo, I think you may have misunderstood the intent of the thread.

Could be an old rifle. Two years old.

I'm gonna resurrect this old thread. The recent Carcano imports got me inspired to dust off the ol' C&R license, and I wound up buying three of them. They had been stored somewhere in Ethiopia for God-knows-how-long and they were pretty grubby, so I took all three of them almost completely apart and cleaned them up. I scrubbed the stocks and put a little oil on them, but didn't try to truly refinish them. I finished reassembling the last one today, and here they are: Top: This is an M91/28 Moschetto T.S. (special troops) carbine, made in 1930 at the Terni arsenal. It's overall in good condition, but the bore is a bit rough and worn . . . I put a LOT of elbow grease into scrubbing this sucker today, with a few different kinds of bore cleaners. It's a lot smoother and cleaner than it was when I started, but it has a ways to go and hopefully it'll get better after some shooting. Middle: This is an M91 Cavalry Carbine, made in 1917 at the Brescia arsenal. Condition and bore are good. Bottom: Also an M91 Cavalry Carbine, made at the Brescia arsenal sometime between 1940 and 1943. It's also in good condition. These are short and light, very easy to handle. Now I just need to make some ammo for them, and get out there and warm 'em up a little!

Three Century Arms cracked-stock special Yugo M24/47 Mausers I bought years ago for $60 each including shipping. All had exc. bores and were in pretty good shape actually. The top one had matching numbers, so I rust blued the metal, refinished the stock, and fixed the split handguard.

This is probably my best C&R score ever. It's a Century Arms monthly special Izhevsk M44 made in 1948. Re-arsenaled, excellent bore, all matching numbers - $45 including shipping. I should have bought more.

Damn. You could get 10x your money back on that! Will we be looking back in 20 years, "I bought this M44 or $450, I should have bought more!"?
