Longer range shooting north of seattle

Wed Apr 19, 2017 3:58 pm

Hey all, I'm trying to get into medium and long range (500-1000yrds) shooting, but it seems to be quite difficult to get a membership at any of the ranges that advertise even 500-600 yards. Any advice on where to go? Doesn't need to be super close, but an hour or less drive from Seattle would be ideal, and I'm on the north side so north is easier than south.

The one thing I really want is to be able to get out there and shoot reliably. I'd hate to drive a few hours and it turns out there won't be any stalls today or what have you.

You're not going to find it on a forum honestly. I'm looking for the same thing and pretty much you need to get to know some personally who knows a spot or search yourself. 1000 yards spots that don't shoot over valleys or roads are very rare unless you go east of the mountains.

Gotcha. Sounds like I'm headed out east then! Any recommendations given that?

There is a place near Selah, WA (north of Yakima) that has out to 600m. It's called LT Murray 1 on the WAGUNS map.

Considering heading there tomorrow, winds seem a bit high but I guess we'll see. Also considering green water... shorter, but also an hour closer... decisions decisions.

Sounds good. I'll have to double check, but barring anything pressing I'll come out for the cleanup.
