I recently bought a bunch of reloading gear and included was about 600 pieces of 38 super comp brass. I've never heard of it. Is this strictly a race gun caliber? Can it be shot in a 38 super gun? Thanks

To summarize, yes you can shoot it but not reliably.
Super Comp brass can be reloaded a lot more times than Super because it's case is thicker. It's also rimless so you can fit one more round into a big magazine. This also means that a traditional 38 super gun might have problems extracting super comp brass unless you tune your extractor.
they're worth something to the competitors though, you should sell it :)
