Pinned suppressor

Does anyone run a pinned suppressor? What length suppressors/barrels are you running? What’s it like keeping them clean? Mainly on gas guns (ar/ak). Only want to have one stamp.

I've wanted to do this on a pistol upper to run a full stock but haven't been brave enough to do it. Curious if anyone else has also.

A buddy of mine made a Form 1 can a while back. I think it was a 12" barrel, but a 6" can, but since it was pinned it wasn't an SBR. He was just going to run it until it broke, since it was a Form 1 can he made.

I haven't done one, but I've done the homework.

Centerfire cans don't need cleaning, for the most part. Particularly rifle calibers. By the time there's enough carbon buildup to matter, the can will be shot out, and, if build well, that won't happen for quite some time. And most form 1 cans will have a removeable end cap anyway.

But just like other pinned/welded muzzle devices, make sure you're otherwise happy with the configuration of the gun. It will be difficult to remove or change the handguard, barrel, etc.

Were you getting any strikes or accuracy problems?
I ask because my Nomad and Turbo K are welded. Cleaning would be rather difficult. Suppose you could snake the bore line, but the projectiles to a fine enough job of that. I don't plan on cleaning my centerfire rifle cans. My rimfire can, yes. My pistol can, maybe.

Were you getting any strikes or accuracy problems?

Not that I could tell, but I was using it out on the prairie shooting at prairie dogs, not shooting groups on paper -- so it's hard to tell how it's doing, accuracy-wise. Between the constant wind, lying on my belly on cacti, and general human error it's hard to tell what the actual problem is out there.

With that said, though, the buildup was not "even" or symmetrical inside the can, so that made me worry about accuracy issues.

Earlier questions about baffle strikes….I run a fully welded OSS on a machine gun…no baffle strikes. YMMV and it pays to have your items checked for concentricity before going full HAM.

I have a integral 300blk can. 10.5” with a 6” monocore. With 6” reflex section.
Cleaning yes absolutely mess art with subs and if unjacketed bullets are shot.
After 1100 rounds of 220g powder coated bullets with 4227 behind it I got 6 oz of lead and carbon build up off my core.
223 suppressor- 6-8000 rounds threw a aem5 and I’m less then a oz from mfg weight.
My thoughts are YMMV on the setup. If pinned I would go with a can I disassemble in some way if shooting subs.
