First, when setting up an online account with BATF, do you use your name or your trust name? I would think trust name if applicable, but it does not seem to be a way to do so.

When filling out the form, is the trust the "manufacturer" or the individual/me? Again, if it's going in a trust I would that the trust name should be used.

Thanks

Use your name when setting up the account.

When adding the firearm the "manufacturer" is who originally made the lower/firearm. If its a mega arms lower you would put Mega Arms (whatever comes up for them). Or like with my CZ Vz 61 you put CZ for the manufacturer. Now if you made the firearm (80% lower) you put something else i dont remember.

The only real time your trust comes into play is one of the first screens in the Form 1 process under the applicant section. Then again when you upload a copy of the trust

But here is a step by step picture guide on how to do it. Theres also a link to the silencer shop video

If you're doing a Form 1 for a suppressor, search for manufacturer code "FMI" (that's an "eye" at the end, not a one). Maybe it's the same for an 80% lower, I don't know for sure.

I found their website had a pretty good FAQ that answered all those questions and more. A quick read through before starting the process made it go fast.

I thought I read that I became the "mfr" when I assemble everything.

In buying a pistol lower and adding the stock to make it an sbr, I thought the adding the stock made me the "mfr". If so, what is the difference when assembling a complete lower?

Don't try to use logic in this process. It will just confuse everyone. :frust:

They want the manufacturer of the gun (starting point) that you are going to SBR. Yes, once you actually add a stock or install a short barrel then you are manufacturing the SBR, and thus that's what you engrave on the SBR. If you ever sell the SBR and do a Form 4, then your trust will be listed as the manufacturer at that point.

Learn from others.. Like me! One of my SBR submissions was delayed almost 3 weeks because they had to "validate" the MFG (I put my trust as the MFG, thinking along the same lines as you). I emailed back and forth with a nice gentleman from the BATFE. All in all, it finally went into a pending/submitted state but what a PITA. It should be the MFG of the lower you are using, since you are not "manufacturing" the SBR, but making it (big difference).

On F1 cans you put your trust name and it goes through without issue.

Arfcom haters close your eyes and don't click the link. This a great step by step guide to form 1 efile. The tech forums there are tough to beat.

The step by step on ARFCOM is how I did my very first Form 1 SBR, worked perfectly and I've now got 5 more Form 1 stamps using those directions.

I thought I read that paper forms were accepted until 7/13/2016, but that online submissions were stopped on 6/28/2016. I cannot seem to find that info nor confirm that in an Internet search.

Anyone got info on this?

Well, I just eFiled a Form 1 this morning..... :thumbsup2:

My understanding is that paper forms need to be postmarked by July 12th, and electronic submittals need to be in by July 12th.

Sorry that is bad information. eForms are never going down and will continue to be up and running way past July 13th. However for us they will be useless after July 12 11:59PM EST until they either modify the system or launch the new one.

Sorry, guess I was not clear.

I was just referencing the desire to get in before the new 41P took effect. I realize the online system as a whole is continuing.

Thanks.

P.S.- my question was answered by BATFE and no such dual deadline exists, or that was the answer I got today.. It is all 7/13/2016 for new 41P.

If you are making an SBR from an existing Title I firearm, you are the "maker". A Form 1 is an application to make.

The manufacturer is who made the Title 1 firearm.
