I am thinking of getting a pistol which I can later make into a SBR. Currently, I am looking at the following: CZ 805 Bren S1, 5.56 (yes, I know it is "discontinued") CZ EVO Scorpion 9mm Sig MPX 9mm Vector/IMI Uzi Sig 556xi 5.56 IWI Galil ACE SAR A regular ole fucking AR pistol. Is there any others I should be considering?

If you are going to go UZI pass on Vector and go with a McKay build: http://www.mckay-ent.com/uzi.html?___st ... rcial_viewFollowing the McKay path they are 922r compliant pretty much as built (receiver/truntion/barrel/bolt/etc...)

IMHO, I think the AR platform offers modularity. Also, the AR platform, for the most part less expensive to upgrade and more parts are available. The AR continues to evolve. As more idea and parts come on the market, AR's get better and better. The AR platform is not a "One Trick Pony' either. you can slap a different uppers on it with different calibers of a varying array of caliber options and mission oriented effectiveness. The 7.62 x 39 is no joke.
I am working with my AR 9 MM pistol right now that takes Glock mags. I am considering SBR that or another one.
I do like the CZ EVO Scorpion 9mm and if I am not mistaken the Gen 2 will be coming out later this year. More parts are coming out with more availability. Magazine prices are coming down and nice folding stock. Hopefully this platform will continue to evolve also with popularity.
The SIG MPX 9mm is really good weapon system. But for me, the price point is a little high but hey, its a SIG right?

They are nice, but kinda suck when suppressed. Too much gas and crap in the face. The CZ Evo is cheaper and shines in that department.

CZ EVO is a pretty unrefined platform compared to the others mentioned, however I have had very little problem with gas when running a can.

Have you thought about going way old school and building an SBR semi of a WWII buzzgun?

I have looked at Sten gun kits... They look hinkey...

What about the PPSH and PPS style guns? A friend of mine is getting a Finnish PPS 43 copy reworked for semi to SBR. Those are a lot less hinky than some of these weird Sten kits and mods.

I would really like to find a decent .45 SBR. The Thompson 1927 builds are questionable at best. The M3 is almost unobtainable... I would actually really dig one of those....

The PPSH has lost it's shine in my eyes as the older subgun ammo is almost impossible to find...
