Ah contraire, it is very nice. Anyone who wants to make a silencer in my garage can do so as long as they bring an approved ATF form 1, material and $10 for tooling. Helping others make silencers using my designs is my R&D. :) PM me if interested.

What would ya charge for material and the access to your designs? I'm interested in a couple variations on some of your baffles at your class.

We can figure something out via PM's.

Access to my designs is free. I would suggest that you get material from Online Metals in Seattle.

So does this take out the 6 month waiting time I would have to deal with if I bought a gem tech?

No. BATFE Federal requirements still apply.

That's my only issue is the wait time. I wish you could pay extra to have the paper work expedited.

this is what i tell everyone who is having an issue with the wait times...
the longer you put it off, the longer itll take to get it. if you were to send out your paperwork today, boom, six months you have it back and you have your silencer. wishes are like assholes and opinions, everyones got one. just get it done, forget about it and when it comes back, its like christmas.

I've read/heard that the center hole for .22 is 1/4" (0.25"), but how do you calculate the size for a .308 (and other calibers)?

Is the formula:
D=caliber*x%
- or -
D=caliber+y"
Image

I presume rounding up to the nearest fractional drill bit size would be practical.

EDIT - - - - - - - - -

According to SD Tactical Arms, you ADD .03" to .08" so the answer to my question above would be D=caliber+y". In the case of .308, they recommend a 23/64" drill bit.

Carry on.

For the silencers I make the baffles differ in bore size depending on their placement in the tube. A 22lr or 223 would start out at about .25" for the blast baffle and be about .300" at the front end cap. A .308 can would have a .340" blast baffle bore and nearly .400" for the front end cap. My concerns are safety first, accuracy second and last is suppression.

I can rarely drill a hole in barstock that is perfectly centered. I drill the hole undersized then widen/center it with a small tool bit.

Sounds like you are still making suppressors. About how long does it take you to go from barstock to finished suppressor? does it depend on the caliber?

Still making them; just finished a 50 bmg can that I will test out this weekend if they let me try it out at the Poulsbo Sportsman Club.

The amount of time depends on the number of parts and the size (how many chips you make) and the material. I'm never using aluminum again if I can help it. Can't chemically or ultrasonically clean and eventually all of my screw on end caps got stuck in place so now I can't clean my 22lr, 9mm and subsonic whisper caliber cans.

When filing an eForm 1 for a Silencer using a Trust - specifically, when attaching electronic documents - are you required to submit signed copies in duplicate of ATF Form 5320.1 (Form 1)? If so, do you need to fill in Section 17 - Method of Payment, even though you'll be filling in payment info through the eForm site?
