Hey guys! Super excited about the WA legislature getting their heads our of their asses and allowing us to build an SBR! I understand the new law goes into effect June 9th.

My question, would it be prudent to submit a Form 1 prior to June 9th in anticipation of the law being effective by the time the ATF reviews my paperwork? The "NFA" guy at my local gun shop here in Spokane told me to go ahead and file now because it wont even hit an inspectors desk until after the June 9th effective day.

What say you, NFA experts of WAguns???

Umm, no. Don't do it. There are several reports of people who jumped the gun and got rejected.

Adding another 13 days to 4-5 months isn't too bad.

We have people who worked very hard to get the SBR bill passed (read: dogfish and others) and to coordinate the changes with the ATF, and they have asked us not to jump the gun.

Think there was a letter from ATF stating very clearly that June 9 was the 1st day. ATF will check submission dates when they start processing applications. Yours shows June 8th, they will reject it as it was not legal for you to apply at the time you applied.

So what if I used a saved draft I typed up (dated last year) can just hit submit?

good lord almighty, it's a draft, it's not submitted. I think there must be a few hundred WA draft's sitting there waiting for midnight. Anyone doing their total data entry at 1am is begging for a mistake. =)
