While attempting to sell a pistol I may have run across someone impersonating an FFL agent in an attempt to buy a handgun. I have decent evidence (spoke to actual FFL and he told me this has gone on for a while, as well as other data) and would like to nail this impersonator to the wall. Called the ATF and left a message... no returned phone call. Trying other avenues but thought perhaps ya'll might have some direct #'s to actual HUMANS at the ATF.

No, the impersonator is not on this board. I would have already sent the info to the moderators.

I have a copy of the FFL, confirmed FFL# with atf web site.
called FFL, he stated he DOESN'T want my pistol and it wasn't him who emailed me. real FFL stated someone has a copy of his full FFL license # and is doing the certified check scam on people.

I called those #'s at ATF, spoke to one human who referred me to voicemail. and I wait...

I have always felt a little trepidatious about handing over my C&R FFL because of the info and potential for misuse. Seems much worse for a FFL01.
Face to face business was almost always handled by seeing each others FFL03 and writing down the info.

Sounds like a common 'you can ship it to my dealer' armslist scam...

you must be dealing with shady people , never heard that before.

and you only mail it to the mailing address on the ffl form after checking the atf ez verify. If you don't you shouldn't own firearms

So, I'm associated with nefarious characters because I'm aware of scams that you're not?

I worked at a gun shop where people would come in on a daily basis wanting to buy 10.5" bbls for their AR15s 'because it would look cool'....They had zero idea of what NFA meant...

These same people are supposed to know what EZ Verify is when they're given a 'certified check' and a 'copy of my FFL'?

How about you educate yourself before throwing shade......

In the 80's someone got a hold of a copy of my FFL and tried using it.
It had my old address on it, not sure if they were successful or not.

Or you could even read the post Dan posted in 2013... viewtopic.php?f=51&t=22277

Need to verify that the FFL you are sending your firearm to is legit? Verify!

There has been a rash of Armslist / CL scammers trying to buy your weapons and have them ship it to "their" FFL, but they provide a fraudulent FFL document. The BATFE provides you an easy online FFL verification site to make sure you are sending your firearms to the real deal.
