In summary the differences again in sizes:
Glock is literally 3mm wider. Look at a ruler. 3mm. A critical dimension but also a fairly irrelevant difference IMO. Glock is 3mm shorter height. A critical dimension but also a fairly irrelevant difference IMO. Glock is 15mm longer. Of some importance but this difference is entirely irrelevant. Glock is 3 oz. heavier. A trivial weight difference of little significance.
Glock however has decades of proven performance, a mountain of aftermarket including holsters, a standard weaver rail, and accepts readily available other 9mm Glock mags that are common and affordable.
Glock 26 specs: Price: ~$500 Capacity 10+1 (or larger mags available up to 33rds) Length: 163 mm / 6.41 in. Width: 30.00 mm / 1.18 in. Length Between Sights: 137 mm / 5.39 in. Height: 106 mm / 4.17 in. Barrel Height: 32 mm / 1.26 in. Barrel Length: 87 mm / 3.42 in. Weight 21.7 oz./615 grams * Trigger safety * Add $100 for night sites
Sig P365 specs: PRICE: ~$600 CAPACITY 10+1 or 12+1 OVERALL LENGTH: 5.8 in (148 mm) OVERALL WIDTH: 1.0 in (27 mm) BARREL LENGTH: 3.1 in (78 mm) HEIGHT: 4.3 in (109 mm) WEIGHT: 17.8 oz (500 g) *Special $50 mags and a proprietary rail and can you even get holsters? *No apparent trigger, manual, or grip safety *Nite sites included
All in all for a new gun owner wanting to beta test and be an early adopter, needing a thin double stack, this might be a good buy. For me personally I'm quite happy with my current options so won't be a early adopter. I'd let the recalls and kinks work out for the 2.0 version. See if it succeeds in the market and if there's aftermarket support. Maybe pick up one on the used market in a few years. There is allot more to it than the absolute measurements. Shield Vs XDS is a good example. They may measure virtually the same, place one over the other comparing dimensions they look the same. XDS for me with large hands is much more comfortable to shoot due to the square shape of the rip relative to the shield which is very oval shaped. The XDS fills the hand better, even though on paper they look virtually identical. No different than comparing say two ocean racing boats. Both are 50ft long with a 8ft beam. One is a Cat hull and one Deep V. They will handle drastically different and have pros/cons depending on the water conditions. While the pistols may technically measure the same width (likely measured at the grip since both are double stack and that will be widest part of the both weapons since they are double stack?) the P365 will likely have a narrower slide and forward frame profile. I can tell you that a narrower slide and forward frame 100% makes a difference in carry comfort and conceal-ability, having gone from a shield to G26 and back to a shield for that very reason. Talking 1/2 a belt loop, and when you carry IWB, that makes a difference between being comfortable and uncomfortable. If we are talking OWB then it is a moot point and should more likely be looking at a compact weapon anyway and not one of these slim single stack ones that are more tailored to deep conceal-ability or even pocket carry.

3mm of width is significant. As your stats point out, the difference between micro and sub-compact is exactly 3mm. It's in a different class of gun in terms of width. Height is an important factor, but not in the same magnitude to width. I'd argue the shield is more concealable than the 43 despite the shield being much longer. 3oz is significant when comparing guns int he same class at the micro level, that over 20% difference. It's capacity is 67% more. I could hardly imagine a trigger being worse than the 43 or sheid, but who knows. On paper, this thing is a class dominator. We need to see how they turn out in practice, but it's promising a LOT!

Whoops, G26 needs to be compared to the p320 sub-compact not the p365... wrong thread...

The gun safety starts with the shooter! 25 years eh? Begs the question of how many of those were striker fired? Don't get me wrong, I'm a big Sig fan, but all of my Sigs have German proof marks. All are steel guns (1x 220, 3x 226, 3x 229). I just bought my first striker fired gun, a Canik and have not carried it yet as I just got it at Xmas.

This thread reads like a 9mm vs .45 ACP thread.
My take away: having more options is never a bad thing. Unless its gender options - we only need 2 genders.

Weight is a big deal for me. I liked my G26 but had to wear suspenders to keep my britches up, even with a good belt. I liked the gun but hated the finger bumps . I did hear tonight there is now a Gen5 part number so bumpless G26 on the horizon. I have a Shield which is ok but I just can't really warm up to it and it doesn't shoot as accurately for me. Mostly I carry a G42 which is light, accurate, 8+1 and possibly a bit down on horsepower. I'd like to rub on a 365 and maybe a PPS M2 or if all else fails a G43. As mentioned more choices are better and competition make better choices.

My take away: having more options is never a bad thing. Unless its gender options - we only need 2 genders. This says it all, there is No perfect pistol for every situation. But having many different choices is a good thing, sometimes I carry my 43, or my PX4Storm sub when I want more capacity for CC. Other situations call for my 17/19/P226, and when the woods are calling my 20 fits the bill. So yea having choices is a good thing.. I am not particular to one brand, but to one's that are reliable.

I believe all 3 of mine are aluminum frames... is that incorrect? They don't attract a magnet and they aren't polymer.
