Yeah the federal level was what I was more wondering about.
The topic came up along with the firearm vs pistol shit and all the random weirdo laws.

Going back to my first post: if the hook is ground off it would be ok to use on both the state and the federal level.

Possession of hammers should be ok given that the M16 hammer is not designed to be exclusively used in a machine gun.

Try to order one and have it sent to WA.

And I agree with you. If it can be used and function in a SA rifle then it's not exclusively mfg'd for FA. Should be legal according to the letter of the law. Just another stupid law on the books that no one can understand and can be interpreted one way Mon-Sat and another way on Sun.

Keep in mind though that "FA" parts are banned from shipping to WA. So it may be a moot point anyway

"Exclusively manufactured" speaks to intent, while "can be used and function in" speaks to potential. I would caution against conflating the two. The FA hammers are distinctly different in terms of their design, presumably because the manufacturer's intent is that they be used only in FA firearms. Just because they can be used in SA firearms doesn't mean that was what they were manufactured for. That's my 2 cents.

You are right Mike. Parts warehouses and businesses will not ship FA parts to WA. You may be able to find someone who will, but that's again a Moot point.

That is true....But an M16 Hammer, Disconnector, Selector etc, is designed exclusively for a FA Weapon. While it will work perfectly in a Semi Auto, the same parts Designed Exclusively For a Semi Auto will not work in reverse.

Hence the issue and the States stance. You can argue it all you want, maybe find a FA hammer and grind the Hook off to save a few bucks, but it ain't worth it.

In this State, even Possession of FA parts could be Prosecuted.

No, the hammer is designed 'solely' for a FA weapon but is not designed to be 'exclusive' to a FA weapon. For it to be excrusive to a FA weapon it would have to be designed to not work in a semi auto.

You're arguing a different case than what is at issue here. Apples and oranges.

Rix didn't ask about using the parts as they are in a semi auto, he asked about the ownership of those parts in this state.
