Just curious how everyone is storing their ammo.
I've seen people store loose rounds in ammo cans, stripper clips in plastic boxes, 1000rd cases sat unopened, etc.
I've seen people who think that any round NOT in a mag is useless, so whenever they buy a case of ammo, they buy X number of mags as well.. NOT kidding when I say I went to a friends house and he virtually had an entire storage rack (5 shelves!) full of loaded GI mags.
Personally, I keep factory ammo in it's box, and place that box in an ammo can. I have all my mags loaded, and kept in ammo cans as well, but will probably be finding a better way to store the mags.
I prefer 30 cal cans instead of 50 cal cans due to the ease of carry. Carrying a 40+lb 50cal can isn't as fun as it sounds.
How do you store your ammo?

Lead, down range. Brass, on ground.-haha
First, All magazines loaded. If it comes in a box, I keep it in the box. If loose, I have plastic storage boxes. All kept in ammo cans and ammo crates. All ammo cans labeled. Ammo cans stored in bedroom closets. All ammo cans are full and have loose boxes. Need more ammo cans. Gonna order more ammo cans...and ammo. Can't have empty ammo cans-haha

I kind of have them in four setups.
First is in Ammo Cans. My more "long term" storage. A lot of it is in factory boxes but there is quite a bit of loose as well. My reloads also fill up their own 30cal cans.
Second is in the little plastic cases. I have quite a few of them in 100 round, 50 round (for 308 and 30-06) and some 20 round ones (for 45-70 mostly). I like these cause its easy to grab one and put it in the range bag and know how much ammo im brining instead of lugging a ammo can around.
Third is just out in factory boxes. Usually my low volume stuff (8mm mauser for instance) that i dont keep much on hand.
Fourth...some magazines stay loaded. No where even close to every gun and every magazine though! The night stand gun and carry gun all have three loaded each. Then i keep some ar mags loaded up. Both 223 and 300blk (even both subsonic and supersonic for that). Also keep some AK mags loaded up. But nothing to crazy there.

Bulk/loose stuff in marked ammo cans, with tape to mark how full, stored in a cabinet reloads in factory plastic ammo blocks or plastic cartridge boxes stored in a cabinet Factory boxed ammo, separated and stacked by caliber, stored in a cabinet. All misc. .22 in an ammo can, Keep match .22 ammo separate (see below) Rifle, Pistol, shotgun and .22 is all separated into different cabinets. It's all marked, organized by caliber and bullet weight, match ammo is in separate cabinets that are gun specific and the Wheel gun ammo gets loaded into moon clips and stored in Snapware containers OCD as a MFer

I like to keep my ammo labeled so I know exactly what it is. This means, for me:
- Factory ammo stays in its container. - Reloads are loose in ammo cans, with a label on them. - Mags are all UNloaded, except for those few that I consider to be for self-defense.

Storage in loose in 30 cal cans, stored above flood line in jobbox. Transport range "session" ammo in nalgene bottles (soft milky white ones, not the rigid hard ones). They hold 1k .22lr, ~250 9mm (covers most match sessions), ~200 .45. 38/357 in speedloaders, .223 in mags.

A 2nd safe. This is half of it. The rest including black powder cartridges are out in the detached RV garage in either wooden boxes (BP) or ammo cans (Smokeless).

I have mine in a separate safe in either plastic reloaders boxes or in factory boxes in ammo cans.
I stopped using the the plastic 100 rnd reloaders cases because I just raid the garbage can at the range and grab the factory 50 rnd boxes and stick a new label on them.
