Yeah, that was an interesting comment. I *assume* they are just clarifying that these are not C&R FFLs . . . but who knows?

I'm sure another clarification will be coming soon. :ROFLMAO:

Another stupid fucking bureaucratic impediment on paper designed to fuck with law abiding citizens - because they, unlike the criminal element, are not dangerous.

Also, law abiding citizens do not fight back when some pencil pushing government geek fucks them over with paperwork stupidity, legal theft, impediment of common sense, and a general sense of arrogant bloodsucking leech entitlement to your time, energy, and pay check.

Concerning sale price of the 1911s: CMP has been selling M1 Garands, M1 Carbines, 1903s, .22s, etc. for 21+ years and we have never taken advantage of anyone. CMP is not going to start price gouging people now with the 1911s. The 1911s will be priced at fair market value just like our M1 Garands. The CMP's enabling legislation directs sales of items at fair market value.

does not jive with this:
Quote:
Pricing, Cooper said, is expected to be between $800-$1,000 for shooters.

“It’s hard to say exactly, but a good guess will be around $1,000 minimum,” he said. “One reason for this is that the 1911 is a very valuable pistol. Even though they may be shot out or busted up, we don’t want them falling into the hands of people who will just leave them in a glove box. We want a perceived value — more of an heirloom. We don’t want them considered a standard sidearm. All we need is to have someone commit a liquor store robbery with one and then we’ll be held accountable.

Their values might be a little bit less, but we want some sort of threshold to prevent anyone from coming in off the street and plunking down $400. I would guess they’d sell for $800 to $1,000 but they’ll go by grade like our M-1s — service grade to collector grade. The rarer ones — ones with all matching numbers or ones carried by celebrities or heroes with provenance, will go to our auction house.”

These price gouging jerks can go ahead and sit on these 100k and start taking over the storage fees the army was previously paying when no one buys them.

My bank notarized my Garand paperwork for for free.
Just says they saw your ID and you are who you say you are.

My banker said "What's this for?" I said "I'm buying a gun." She said "OK" and stamped it with her seal.

Last I knew, CMP might get up to 100,000 pistols, at up to 10,000 per year.

There's going to be a very high demand for these and given that similar surplus 1911's go for north of $1000, I'd say they will sell even at a grand. I'd expect the lower grade ones coming in at $800 and the sweeter picks in north of $1500 or $2000. They will sell at that market price.

Keep in mind, I've seen good working condition WWI and WWII and later era 1911s go for $1200 or more. So that is "fair market value."

And there's to be a lottery and I'd bet hundreds of applicants per gun. Lottery starts with the first 10,000 entrants.

These will sell, and sell fast, given the love for the 1911 and the history, if at $1000 or less. And no, these won't be "liquor store hold-up" guns.

Sadly the bottom line for me, the lowly nobody, will never even come close to getting one of these.
And they are surely not worth the starting asking price of $1500~$2000!
