Stopped by NW Safe today to have a look around. Learned a lot today because I got there when they opened and wasn't busy yet.
I should of taken some pictures but really, you should see first hand what Canon, Winchester, Stack on and a few other common named safes look like after being broke into.
Opened my eyes for sure.
They admit that even their own Liberty line can be broken into. It just takes longer and more tools.
I'll let the pros out there explain it.
Some good prices to be had.
Some cost

Even if you don't need one, it's worth the trip to remind yourself what's out there.

Safes are the last line of defense, and yes, any can be compromised.
I've always had the the philosophy of "3 layers of defense minimum".
Personally, my first 3 layers are active motion cameras that tell me wherever I am,of activity at my home when I'm not there.
2nd is a house alarm.
3rd is a dog (When thieves hear a dog, the likelihood of a break in decreases dramatically)

My 4th layer is....a safe. Bolted into concrete.

5th is me, wife. Both armed, both practice.

I swung by last week and picked up a Safelert system. Great notification system and safe monitor. You can even notify friends or family when out of town.

My safe is over 100 years old about 1.5 tons and is not going to be breached by a sledge hammer or torch.

Did I mention that the batteries never need changed either?

Old Growth, how would the contents of that 100 year old safe hold up in a 1200 deg fire for 90min?

Its walls are about a foot thick and has the fire/explosion proof ridges in the door jambs.

Its like this but MUCH larger.

Fire was not a concern to me, just theft prevention.
