I have an extra lower sitting on my bench, and I need something to do with it so I'm thinking about building a .458 Socom plinker. No real need, I know the ammo is expensive, but I don't need another .223/5.56/.300/x39 & I want something different..
Just wanted to put a feeler out to see what kind of setup you have. Ive been mulling over the Radical Firearms and Rock River so far..

450 Bushmaster closest I got. Shoot same pills as 45ACP and 45LC so a bit more economical. Working on a subsonic load. Fun stuff!
Way more bullet options compared to .458

Ive got one. Its a fun caliber. I have mine as a SBR. I got the barrel from Tormix who is the guy who developed it. I also have a suppressor for it.
Its fun slinging heavy bullets (405gr normally) downrange. I reload for it so its nice sharing bullets with my 45-70.
Its a fun caliber thats for sure. I dont shoot it often though

They are real popular down south shooting subsonic suppressed on pigs. They usually don’t run. Expensive, but if you reload, well worth it.

Go to Tromix to get your bolt, barrel, and upper from the man the built first ones. Built a 12.0” and can swap between pistol and sbr lowers.
