Buds Guns recently had some overruns that had cosmetic blems but mine works excellent.
Kind of thing one can budget for and upgrade as able.
I always like to convert cost into number of boxes ammo equivalents - perspective. What's the quality on a $150 aftermarket threaded barrel vs a new one that comes from the manufacturer with the pistol? How standardized are they and the fit? How would one such a determination? Are you able to perform such evaluation? Mine dropped right in with no modifications and fits as well as the original ... want to come see? Thanks for the offer but you appear to be quite a distance from me. Did you see any change in accuracy with the new barrel? Honestly, have not done extensive testing. Point of impact did not change and it appears groups are tighter but have not really done careful resting. Been too busy having fun shooting suppressed!

mislabeled wrote: +1 on the Sig Tacops. Sweet shooter and excellent quality. It's heavier than I would personally want to carry (completely individual preference, obviously, and kind of universal across most steel-frame pistols) and if you're die-hard traditional then the lack of a rounded top might be seen as a negative. I think the design is attractive, myself, but again that's a personal thing.
Skagit Arms often has a decent selection of used Sigs if you're looking to save some dough. quantsuff wrote: Sig tacops I went to the range and shot a bunch of them. A couple have checkering on the front of the grip that is like a razer blade. How aggressive is the checkering on the Sig tacops? Does it rip your hand apart? It felt like pushing on the wrong side of a bunch of push-pins. Anybody know where to look at one in-person? Also, after shooting a bunch, this is what I decided. - trigger with over-travel screw
- Flared/funnel mag well
- full size
- heavier the better
- traditional sights

Link to the gun? Price? I emailed Springfield, asking if they sell a 1911 with a threaded barrel:

yes. Sig is off the production line. The Springfield is made in the custom shop with tool steel parts and fitted by 1911 masters. No comparison.

4 pages of talking about 1911's and the OP hasn't bought a damn thing or learned much from some great input. Seems to me it's more about another thread than the purchase. Buy one, they aren't hard to find and basing whether it comes with a threaded barrel is silly.

For $1700, I'd start considering Dan Wessons etc. Everything else that is 2k. usrifle wrote: 4 pages of talking about 1911's and the OP hasn't bought a damn thing or learned much from some great input. Do you sell guns at a pawn shop or cars at a used car lot? Can I research something for more than 10 days without you bitching? The only great input I've seen is to spend $2000, or as you've said, eliminate the threaded barrel from the criteria. At a $2000 or $3000 pistol then a $100 barrel is nothing. But at the $1000 price point throwing away barrels, or grips, or triggers, or or or or is a big deal.

You should have listened to Sinus 3 pages ago. Otherwise, buy a Springfield in whatever flavor you can afford and buy a damn threaded barrel already. No, you don't need a poll to decide either.

Seriously, unless you're about to buy a gun knock it off with the mental masturbation. You've been presented with all of the viable options. Shit or get off the pot. We don't need another opinion based ego stroking shit fest of a thread.
You've been told. Buy.
