I have heard some rumors that there may be some ownership changes at CAR Firearms, Does anybody know more?

I wonder how this works. Last time I dealt with them working out of their home, he was the guy doing the work with an apprentice. Did they have another gunsmith working at the new shop?

[update] I just spoke to Josh. This all happened within the last week. Fred is indeed gone, sounds like there was some personality conflicts, they are still on speaking terms, but things are definitely strained. As of now, they are looking for another machinist, and it sounds like that position could be filled pretty quick. Apparently my build is still in good shape, I still have a long wait.

This is definitely a bummer, hopefully the new machinist is as good as Fred.

I just called and left a message. They have my rifle and some parts, I think Fred was just beginning work on it. I'm hoping I don't get back a partially modified rifle...

I was just there visiting with him a month ago. Damn.

Unfortunately, it is true. I am not going to go deep into details, but here’s the short answer: Due to a difference between my partner and I, I chose to walk away instead of dissolving the company and leaving customers without a good place to go.

Chris is a hell of a gunsmith in my opinion and I believe that most if not all customers will still get the customer service that I formed the company on. I wish them, all my past customers, and future customers the very best.

I have to wait a while to get funds up to start over, but extremely larger opportunities are also on the horizon, so I’m not sure. I will keep everyone posted as best as possible.

I do apologize to anyone that might be mad at me, but try to understand that I took the higher road for the shop and everyone that goes there...

Please keep the bashing to a minimum, as it’s not wanted, needed, or necessary..
