Range grip for S&W 29

Fri Sep 22, 2017 7:22 pm

So I bought one of my holy grail bucket list guns today. I had a free afternoon in Boise before my flight home, so I wandered into Boise Guns. On the counter was a Nickle 29-2 6&1/2 inch barrel in the presentation box. Very clean with barely any turn ring. A deal was made and it is coming to my local FFL. Anyway, the presentation grips look great but I think I want some nice rubber ones for extended range visits. To my point, what are the good choices? Hogue, Pachmeyer? Something else?

I have the sw x frame rubber grips on my 629, they feel great!

Pachmayr grips didn't even fit it properly and the stock hogue grips did not protect the web of my hand.

X frame rubber grips are the best, but only available new through S&W direct.

Hogue N frame are better than wood if you don't want to go that route.

I shoot .44s with wood grips, but wear shooting gloves, mainly to hang on to the dang thing.
