https://youtu.be/kxJYMbik_kU I let some friends shoot my 10/22 i could not believe how loud the hammer hitting the bolt bolt was. have replace the bolt stop with a nylon one, and have added a detent check ball to the trigger housing to slow the bolt down. how about adding a nylon block to the back of the bolt to help with the noise. and some to the front of bolt like the one in the video. or do you think it is a waste of time. thanks Greg

Greg, I moved this to General Firearm Discussion. The area you originally posted in (NFA/Title II) doesn't apply here because it's not an NFA item.
As far as quoting the bolt, I have used the nylon buffer bolt stop before with great success. I personally don't see the benefit of all that work of adding the front buffer. There is still slide noise, and in the world of being quiet that is just as loud as the bolt face hitting the chamber.
Keep it simple.

I haven't tested it, but isn't the bolt noise dampened when chambering a cartridge?

That's a "click", followed by the carrier making noise cycling. If you want total quiet, but .22cal type projectile, look towards GAMO Air Guns.

I have a Ruger American in .22lr. Comes with a factory threaded barrel and takes the 10 and 25 round 10/22 mags. Some ammo is so quiet with My SWR (now Silencerco) Spectre that I keep a cleaning rod assembled to make sure the round exited the barrel!
