I have a Ferret .50 (Spider Firearms) upper, single shot, with the 32" barrel. Yes--with milsurp ammunition it will definitely rock your world and kill scopes.
However, if you handload...well, I have used Hodgdon US 869 for two different loads, using 630 grain M33 ball and the Barnes TAC-LR bullet. It tames it considerably--so much so that the last time I took it out I let a 12 year old boy fire it--with his parent's permission, of course. Very good ballistics--but very little felt recoil.
