Does she practice with another rifle or AR set up? Might be beneficial to have some practice with a 22 LR cal rifle. I have a M&P 22 set up to practice a teach basics. This way you can see the sight picture through the scope, adjust the mount to a comfortable position. With practice then you can move up to the heavier rifle and shoot better. Just an idea. Bolt rifles work just as well

She's got to get comfortable with the 6.8 because that's one rifle she will hunt with this year.

I missed a word. She practices with the 5.56 because it's cheaper.

Taking Ops' advice and moved the scope back a bit, and I made a cheek rest. MorrisWR and DukeEB will be pleased to know that I used more foam from another Microsoft event to make this. This time there was some packing material left over in their exhibit booth that was destined for the trash. I took a few cuts with my knife and walked out, quite pleased with my finding, knowing I had everything I needed now. The zip ties are temporary holder until the design meets her approval and vet whether or not she really needs it. If you're wondering how to do this, I made one last year for myself. http://www.waguns.org/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=70294&hilit=cheek

cbass wrote: Dumn question but is she trying to use her left eye? It kinda looks like it.... she may be left eye dominant?? Also on an AR Line of sight is 2.5" above line of bore, you need EXTRA high rings to get the LOS to LOB correct. My buddy had these same problems with his .458 socom couldn't figure it out, argued up down & sideways until i let him look through a couple of heavy barreled ARs i own with the extra high rings.... This is my guess as well, but it seems you mastered it- great grouping on her part.

As some one of the high cheekbones club who love accurate rifles, the ar15 and I have had a love hate relationship. Add on the fact I learned to shoot ntch about two decades ago and can't ditch that behavior it makes it even more difficult. Glad you found a diy solution. I've built my own cheekrests for my m1a rifle with foam and high speed tape like the guys in the service do. It doesn't look fantastic but my groupings did compared to without the cheekrest. As for the ar15 platform there's a couple options you can consider down the road if you decide this option is too cumbersome with operating the stock to work the charging handle. Look at the LUTH AR MBA3 stock or the falcon 37 charging handle. The luthar stock is interesting as it has a cheekrest but the most benefit I got from it was the buttpad that could be dropped giving me a better position to shoulder which aided me in a more consistent cheek weld. Also armalite sells an optic mount that was designed originally for the dpms 308s fist generation higher receiver rails that was just about perfect for me on an ar15 for a solid cheek weld.
