So in another forum I was getting grief for not posting enough specifically on guns.
I just got an email from a long time buddy that historically was, and in reality still is, a hardcore leftist.
Past years I listened to how off my rocker I was for liking guns so much. I always thought it was the right amount.
Well, post Nov 9, he has decided he better get armed, and bought a AR-15. He even shoots it and knows how to clean it!
If you knew how leftie he is, you would understand the exclamation point.
Anyway, after shooting with iron sights, he wants to try a scope.
So this is perfect timing, killing 2 birds with 1 stone, so to speak.
I am no expert on glass, and have no answers for him. He wants something budget, even used is fine.
Suggestions for low-cost but at least usable glass to get started and become familiar with use without breaking the bank?
Thanks in advance.

Cabelas 1-4 AR scope, even comes with cantilever base/rings (worth $50-75 alone) $150 total. Even illuminated. http://www.cabelas.com/product/shooting ... 339055.utsBest AR scope I've seen for that price.

Primaryarms.com usually has some good ones. The PA 1-4 is a bit more expense than the cabelas, but not too much, 120. http://www.primaryarms.com/primary-arms ... cope-pa14xbasic 3-9 hunting scopes can be pretty cheap too.

I have the Primary Arms 1-4X with an American Defense QD mount I'd be willing to sell. Like new, mounted but not fired. Sits along with the other optics I bought but never figured out to do with. PM if interested.

I'd also vote for PA. It'll be a decent enough scope to keep using if he likes it. If he buys something too cheap he'll just have to replace it with something else later. PA 1-4 would be a good choice.

I knew all you Sinophile spokespeople for China Inc. would mob this thread. How about a Leupold Mark AR U.S. labor produced scope?

And it puts Americans to work, doesn't fund Chinese economic aggression and doesn't undermine YOUR standard of living.

I had a Vortex Crossfire that had a piece of brown wrapping paper inside the tube. Shot OK if you shook it a little bit so it didn't obstruct the view.
