The city of Tacoma has told us that we can have a home based gunsmithing business.

Oh happy day

Brat.

......on both counts.

Congrats on both as well.

Something people don't realize about Dana if you haven't met him. IIRC three years ago he had yet to shoot a deer. He says I'm gonna do it and no kidding this guy goes full on gets his first deer tans the hide and for all I know has made a freakin' coat, bow tie, spare tire or a pair of shoes out of it and now has an F'n secret Elk Camp. Same with the 1911 building and the Rodgers class. I've wanted to go for years. Dana was introduced to the class via another forum I told him about.

He tells me "I'm Going" .

I say where is Bob R....He say's Idaho.

I say shit I thought it was back east.....IIRC that was like a year ago.

He went from being on a 2 year wait list to the luckiest guy I know.

Bam! Dana's At Bob Rodgers Class.

Dana got Drive....no doubts about that.

OhShoot! and I went off to FWDG to get some 1911s and a revolver broken in. I got some shooting tips from him too. Thumb over safety? Oh....that's what Bob was telling me about. OhShoot! is correct again. We also got the sights mostly figured. Having not asked Bob yet to confirm, I'm fairly certain he milled it to sight in for 25yds. Despite that, and not bringing home or taking pictures of the target, the pistol is accurate. The range is 15.66yds so I'll have to take it else where to confirm. I don't normally shoot anything that far away but, I can see how it would be good for some longer range competition shoots. It has a 4.25lb trigger pull and flesh ripping checkering. I'm considering changing the front sight to a lower fiber optic and lowering the trigger pull weight BUT, preserving the gun just the way it came from class has an appeal as well. It's up to 250+ rounds now and fed the hollow points as well. I need/want to setup a jig like Bob made for milling frames and get the feed ramp to 30 degrees on my other 1911s.

Here's some better pics.

One thing I learned in Bob's class. Oil matters.

He told us a story about a guy who came to class. "He came in with some old Hoppes oil and it was so rancid. His gun kept galling." Well guess what I brought to class. Hoppes Extreme Gun Oil. It was a new bottle so I'm thinking it's going to be fine. Nope. My gun kept galling.

He looks at my oil bottle and then I became the class example of his story. Bob recommends FP-10 for everything. He also like Slip 2000 for ARs. I through my bottle away, Brake cleaned it, lubed with FP-10 and all was well after that.

I'm not speaking one way or another about FP-10, but I have told people - oil on stainless guns is damned important. Bob Rodgers knows. Even if you have to go with stinky gear oil (don't do it) better than some water based stuff.
