surprised this didn't happen sooner... huge loss for the AK market

if you own one, you can still sell it, but you can't import a new one.

So I have a buddy that told me over the weekend he is thinking about selling his VEPR .308 for $850. Is this a good deal on these?

I had a 54R VEPR back in the day and loved it, but not too familiar with the .308's

I can see the prices going up.

Some websites already have them marked as out of stock.

is it a squareback? converted? sidefolder? need more details

the problem with the .308 model is that you're pretty much limited to csspecs magazines which are $35+ each. An AR10 is cheaper and more accurate

I have one in .308, but I scored it for $500 and bought a bunch of blem csspecs mags half off, so it was worth it.

Square back, bone stock and has never been fired. It was a pre-election impulse buy by him.

$850 is about $100-$200 too high IMO, but that is going off of yesterday's prices

tomorrow's prices could be much higher

very few squarebacks in .308 were imported. maybe a couple hundred at most. it's a rare rifle but also not all that desirable

a converted one sat in the marketplace on the akfiles for months at around $900

I offered my CZ Sp01 and he might bite, so the asking price could come down a bit.

I sold my squareback converted vepr for $1400. Before that, I sold another one for $1100.

Group buy on Molot VEPR's?? Can't find any in stock and I have been meaning to get one. Might go with the Krebs to go with my early Saiga Krebs conversion.

Damn, and I've been putting off buying one. Guess it's time to find my 7.62x54r before prices go up too much.
