I was wondering what people experience people had with the LC9S as I found a good sale going on.
Reliability? Too small for beginners? Price too good to pass up?

My wife has one. We've had some issues with failure-to-feed and failure to go fully back into battery mostly. She is new to pistols so part of it could be her grip so the vote is still out on that. The mag release is very small and getting the mags out can be a bitch. You have to pull them out, they won't just drop out like I'm used to. Not sure if that is a common problem with this particular gun or not. We may send it back to ruger for a once over to see if we can get it running more reliably and get the mag issue fixed.

Thanks FZRider. Any experience with the SR9C? That is also on my list. This will be my first handgun.

I had a SR9C.
Loved it.
No problems at all for me.
Shot easy and recoil was nice, not jerky, easy for follow up shots. Carried nice on a IWB holster.
Highly recommend the SR9C.

$299 is a great price, but I would rather have a 9mm S&W Shield for that size range. FZ, have you contacted Ruger? They stand by there products. They will fix it, and make it right.
Also to any wanting a first hand gun. Are you wanting to carry, or home defense/target shoot?
Carry: Shield
Home defense/target: Full size gun 4"+.
Try different guns at Marksman, or Bullseye. Or what ever range in your area that rents guns before you buy.

Ruger SR9C is great. A Glock with a safety, and smoother contours.

I am leaning toward the sr9c. I could use it for carry and home. I think I will rent it at the range today.

Chuck nailed it again.
I have the S&W Sheild and the SR9C.
Since like most other forum members, I have multiple handguns for different roles.
If I was limited to one gun in consideration for yourself, go for the Ruger SR9C if you like it. It is a good shooter and has the capability of different mag sizes. This is my girlfriends night stand/home defense pistol.
Personally, I would pass the LC9S by. Just my opinion, I did not care for it.
Hope this provides a little insight, will be looking to see what you choose.

Well I shot the SR9C last night and I am glad I did. For some reason I thought it was a large gun but it is nice and small. I don't think I need to go down to the LC9S at least not until I have more practice with the subcompact size. Definitely will be looking into a used SR9C.

9c is a great shooter. Very intuitive and price worthy. Prices are coming way way down so keep your eye out. Maybe even place a wtb ad here for another member to rid themselves of theirs.

I was surprised at how accurate I could be ignoring some flinch shots (I haven't been to a range in 4 months) and getting used to the smaller size. This is my first 9mm just having moved up from 22's that I rented and I think it is something I could grow and get better with.
I will post a WTB ad good suggestions.

$300 otd --- not bad.
I'm kinda twitching over this one myself...

Edit : didn't read the whole ad at first --- guess it is used....

That is a smoking deal. That particular one for sale has a stainless slide. That is most excellent in my opinion. You just need to pick that bad boy up and break it in a little bit with about 200 rounds and you'll be good to go
