Curious on your take on silicone gun socks?
I currently have my pistols in pistol rugs and read that keeping them in the plastic case with foam is a bad idea.
Currently have a gun cabinet ( I know a safe is better but currently renting and no space) that holds my firearms.

They are great. Keep rust at bay and don't scratch up your guns as you are pulling them in and out of the safe.

We rent as well and years back I ordered a Zanotti Armor safe. You put it together from the panels so I was able to move it with the help of my boys. Door is pretty damn heavy but hand truck was able to get it upstairs and we installed in a closet. Not cheap and it took months to get because they make them to order but a good safe if you move a lot: http://www.zanottiarmor.com/

I couldn't find a price listed anywhere on the site or brochure.

I keep all my rifles/shotguns in Gun Socks. My gun safe is very small, so I have to pack everything in there very tight. It's so nice not worrying about bumping them, hitting them into each other etc. I can't imagine what their conditions would look like without socks.

Any issues with wood grips or stock when using a silicone treated sock. I read that some left a residue and/or marking on the wood grips.
Was looking at Bore Stores. Anyone have experience with them?

I am a cheep bugger....it is so easy to just use my boot socks that no longer have a mate on my rifle stocks that way I can easily get a dozen rifles in an eight gun locker and not worry about dings in stocks and still have room for handguns.

Gun socks work excellent. A little expensive for what they are but they protect as advertised. The several brands I have purchased have not been wet with silicone, but it's there. I use some silicone lubes for specific applications, so I know it's around. Never had any problem with wood. What it really means is that when and if you refinish anything you just need to be triple careful about cleaning and cross contamination. I've not had any issues with silicone of any nature interfering with any project.

i use them for all my guns. Inside a silicon sock, a 1911 fits just right inside a small priority mailing box. Free from the post orifice. I stack the labeled priority boxes in my safe. I have a bunch of old Colts that have been nicely stored this way.

I love gun socks.
They keep my gun so warm, dry and comfy.
It is difficult to find them long enough, though.

Besides the tight fitting socks, there are these bags that help in the gun safe. Allen Tactical Gun Sock, 47", Tan https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00I81KTM2/re ... czb705GADX
