Hey gunners-

Out of sheer curiosity, what is the scoop with carbine conversion kits like Roni’s? I can see where the stabilizer brace makes keeps it technically a pistol, but there are some that just have a full skeleton stock. Do these turn your glock into an sbr?

Are they any fun to shoot, or even remotely practical?

I have one of the latest generation of micro roni kits for a g19. It's pretty slick really. The glock locks in tightly, flashlight mounts in the end conveniently, the whole thing folds up pretty tiny. I went with the actual carbine kit, which means a mounted glock must be an NFA item, so there is that hurdle to deal with. I really like it though, G19 cost and reliability, small carbine handling and fun!

My only complaint would be that the extra mag holder up front is sort of gimmicky. It works, but it hangs the magazine so low that it just seems inconvenient and unlikely to be used.

I have the non-NFA G17 version. Not bad. I little short and the comb makes your face almost sit too high. Probably a good truck gun with compatible magazines with your normal carry pistol.

This kit does not require the nfa stamp: http://mechtechsys.com/1911-carbine-conversion/

I've had several of those and like them. Out of all of them, the .45 on a 1911 frame was my favorite. The telescoping wire stock they sell is pretty good too.
