It's time for me to get past brake cleaner and gun oil. Want something to get the carbon off my ar bolt. What are you guys using?

Hoppes is always a good alternative (and doesn't absorb through latex gloves and into your skin). Can't argue with brake cleaner for pure effectiveness, though.

Been using various combos of Sweet's, brake cleaner, homemade 50/50 mix of ATF & acetone, and Kroil for years.
No complaints. Just wear the right PPE and work with ventilation. A gun is a tool; metals and plastics.

Yep, slip2000 is good stuff. Doesn't get copper out though.

Hoppes has worked just fine for me.
Though in my suppressed guns I like FireClean (yeah yeah) and found it helps with the carbon build up. Once Im out of it though Ill probably try something else

I like Hoppes, been using it for almost 40 years. Just pitched out an empty pint bottle. Wish I saved the squirt top.

Hoppe's with a little Kroil mixed it. Allow to soak overnight.

I prefer Birchwood Casey's solvent to the Hoppes stuff. Hoppes stinks.
In before the "yeah, it stinks like freedom ya nancy!" Yes, I know. I just don't like the smell.

Hoppes tastes horrible too.
Had some small gun parts soaking in a glass of Hoppes, took them out and was putting a rifle back together. Came into the kitchen as the ex wife was leaving. Thought 'Oh, she poured me some bourbon.
Nope. HOPPES!

I'll never forget it. Tastes as bad as R&R blended Canadian whiskey.
