Oh, and bring a self-addressed envelope! You'll need one.

There are a ton of people at the show, and the line for new Oregon licenses is pretty long. The renewal line is short.

The person at the back of the line should have envelopes. I'm here about where the line loops around.

We already filled out an envelope. We 're at the bench by the back door. Blue shirt, blue jeans, black hat

We got to be close to each other. I'm now at the back door wearing a grey WaGuns shirt.

That was one of the longest times I have ever waited in line for something... Got in line just after 10am and was done with finger prints and photo just before 4pm. Almost 6 hours!! But at least its done now.

The sheriff's said they have never had a line so continuous and long before. This is the first time they've seen that and are not sure why. Yes, it was excruciating to be in such a long line, however, it's done. We had fun though and made the time go by laughing, chatting, and walking around.

Glad it's over also!! :)

Good to meet you!
Michael J.

Wow....

When I did it last year it wasn't 6 hours but it was still long. Maybe 4 hours.

Bummer that they haven't been able to get the people or the equipment to speed it up.

Better than driving to OR?

Well, probably not for us. We had to drive 3 hours round trip, and then wait 5 hours in line. I think it would have been better to have an appointment, drive to OR, apply, then visit my BIL :)

Oh well. I appreciated they came to WA for this.

I was done in 45 minutes at the Spring Tacoma show. I had been outside for about 1:30 before they opened though.

Maybe next time some folks here can volunteer to get food orders and maybe some relief to those standing in those horrendous lines (for 4-6 hours) :reaction:

Holy cow. Sorry I was in line for 20 minutes to renew.

If I can add... for next time (for new applicants)
1) Make sure you bring a self address letter envelope (so put your address on it - no stamp needed) - this for them to simply drop in your new Oregon CHL into the mail for you.
2) Photocopy all your ID (this way they don't - speeds time for you and them).
3) Bring a portable chair and a snack (if you are nice - a cooler full to share).
4) Oh bring some cards or a spare battery for your phone
5) lastly make sure you go to the bathroom before you get in line
6) Please bring Exact change (if they say $75 then bring $75 in CASH).

I agree with bringing food & drink etc. However, going by other comments, we'd expected no more than 2 hours. And, they gave you an envelope to address. Photo copying wouldn't have helped because they copied your 2 IDs with the paid receipt. And, one person copied your items while the other did your paperwork. Also, they had no issue with inexact change, as long add you had cash.

No issues with food or bathroom breaks as everyone was friendly and we held each other's spots. We even had duffle people go to the show while we held their spot.

Glad you got out quick as there was no line for renewals.

Thank you,
Michael J.
