Was having some FTFs with the 10/22 and the mags were to blame. Took them all the way down, cleaned them out, polished the area where the nose of the bullet slides over.
Couple of thoughts:
The rotary mags really suck to get back together. You need three hands to do it right. Don't let the wire spring out of its hole.
Those Ruger 25rnd mags? They charge $20+ for those things. About $0.25 in materials. Seriously. There's really almost nothing there but plastic, cast feed lips, and a flimsy tension spring. They might even cost less than the rotary style.

You're talking about the BX-25 mags? I have three of them. Only one works properly.

I also clean my 10 round mags. Those exhaust gases and unburnt powder blow right down into the magazine. Your absolutely right about the "three hands". I lightly clamp the mag body in a vice. That helps a lot.

I ended up with Lamriths 10-22 mag from shooting with him last weekend...it worked in both his and my 10-22 just fine. You think I should take it apart to see how it works?

My rotary mag never worked right after I tried to clean it. I have a ram-line 25 rounder that is older than I am that has about a bazillion rounds fired and never has had a single issue.
