Took both the new toys out shooting today.
FN shoots great but had one failure to eject and one failure to extract.
The Shockwave is interesting. I need to tighten the strap somehow to hold onto the fucker better with full power buck. Not sure if it's my arm length or what but it I couldn't hit for shit at 15ish yards with buck. Very hard to keep do a quick follow up shot too. Maybe need to practice my gangsta hip shooting.
It's a cool, fun gun but there is definitely no practical purpose to it. Hopefully SBSs are removed from NFA or at least legalized in WA and this would be great for a conversion.

Got out and shot some marmots this weekend . Spent time with my dad and our old timer friend Ruger 10-22 and lots of 100 yard shots.

Good shot!
Went to to SVRC this AM. Had a blast. Seems like the first time I relaxed at the range in awhile. Always some drama, or just something stupid like I'm the only guy there and two buddies arrive together and no matter where I am, one goes just to my right and yep, his buddy just to my left. The rest of the range open..........plus they shoot across my trajectory. WTF??
BUT none of that. Everyone was awesome.

Last week I flew from Seattle to Fairbanks, and checked a carry pistol (Ruger LCP II). That was the first time I've ever checked a gun, and of course I was a little nervous after hearing so many stories of ignorant airline or TSA employees that made the process difficult. So, I printed out both the Alaska Airlines and TSA policies so I'd be prepared, and started fishing through all of my pistol cases to find one that would meet the requirement of locking securely so that you can't pry one end of the case open to reach the gun. I finally found one: Success. And I found a use for those two Mossberg locks, too! At Seatac, no drama. The Alaska Airlines employee did her thing with my checked bag, then sent me over to TSA. No issues. The TSA person, besides dealing with the pistol, also did a complete explosives swab of my bag . . . which kinda fucking irritated me, just another example of the good guy getting extra attention. Today I'm flying from Anchorage back to Seattle, and I just checked my bag with pistol again. Similar deal, no drama except the additional swab simply because I'm honest. The guy in front of me was also checking a pistol, and the TSA agent "busted" him because she was able to pry open one end of his pistol case and get her hand in there. He had to run down to one of the airport shops to buy another lock, then come back to re-secure the pistol case. All in all, a good experience.

That pry check is weird. The thread I posted a couple of months ago they didn't even look at my gun case. They just made me sign a post card promising my gun was not loaded, and put it in the bag with the gun.

Steve, I'm surprised they didn't bust you with those cable locks. Edit: those case latches probably can't move enough with the cables in the holes. Makes sense now.

I have flown a half dozen times with my pistol and never had anyone try to pry anything. And those cables caught me too.

My cable locks actually worked well, because the latch needs to slide sideways and the cable prevents it from doing that. So, the case won't open at all.
Some cases don't have the lock through the latch, and yeah the cable locks won't work for that since they'll allow the case to open a couple of inches or so.

I used my metal checking file for the first time....it was a lot easier than I thought. I put some checkering on the head of a Ruger Blackhawk ejector rod button.... Next up a rifle butt pad then maybe...maybe a pistol front strap

Colt wrote: BOUGHT MY FIRST HK VP9!!! CANT WAIT TO SEE WHAT THE ITS ABOUT COME RANGE TIME. Nice! I bought one and can't get it away from my wife every time we go to the range. I use it for steel matches occasionally but she loves the ergonomics and left hand controls. If you don't like it, I would be very surprised. Enjoy.
