Sold a couple rifles, bought a Dan Wesson in 44 caliber to go with my cartridge-matching Ruger. 44 Carbine. 1985, 98% condition, 6" barrel. I already have a leather woven holster and gun belt waiting for it.
These two will be my deer and bear hunting booms sticks we I retire in Montana near Glacier in 2019.

Was yesterday, but went to clean my muzzleloader after about 5 days of it sitting. Apparently thats 4 days too many. Completely full of rust on a brand new stick! Got a lot scrubbed out and then shot a couple rounds out back since I already had those speedloaders made up. Helped a bunch and got 90%+ of the rust ouf of there. Hard lesson learned damn it. Will squeeze off another couple rounds this weekend to see if it wont take the rest of rust with it.

We’re you using real black powder or a substitute?

Dump some water down the barrel after shooting BP. Then clean as soon as you get home!

Oxidized VERY quickly. Rinsed it with hot water to get the bulk out of it after hunting season. Didnt clean right away, a mistake I will never make again.

I finished a butt stock for a friend, I fitted a new butt pad, then sanded the stock, filled the grain and gave it 4 coats of oil, hard to get a good picture indoors...

Had a great range trip with lamrith . . . fun and relaxing. I shot my Swedish Mauser for the first time; what a nice rifle! Made in 1900, and still looks fantastic. I used my reloads, for which I used sized brass that came with the gun. Out of about 30 rounds I had five that wouldn't chamber . . . still gotta figure that out. Maybe I'll just pull them and start over. I also shot one of my Type 99 Arisaka rifle . . . always good. Then I spent a little time with my 5.56 Mossberg MVP and reloads using Hornady 55-grain soft point bullets. These are cheap bullets (8 cents apiece in quantity), and ideally I'd like to be able to use them for prairie dogs so I'm trying a bunch of different powders. I still can't get much less than 1 MOA with them though . . . which might be enough, but still isn't as good as the 50-grain Zmax bullets that I normally use. Anyhow, it was a chilly and wet day . . . and awesome.
