I got my first Rem 700 for Christmas when I was 15, a BDL in 7rem mag.
I killed a lot of critters with that rifle over the years. it was my only big game rifle growing up and was still my go to rifle when ever I hunted out of state.
Through my late 20's and 30's I sorta lost intrest in that old rifle so it stayed in the safe and something else useally got hunted.
Heres a picture of the 700 with the Varii-xII 3-9x40.
I still took the 7mag to the range when ever I went, that 7mag shot 160gr speer bt's into little tiny groups at 100yards.
I was shooting Accubonds in a couple of rifles with good results so I decided to see what the 160's would do in my 7mag.
Heres a picture of some accubonds,left to right, 300RUM 200gr, 7rem mag 160gr, 270wsm 130gr.
The 160gr accubonds shot clover leaves at 100 yards, I had to see what they'ed do at longer range so I put a leupold 4.5-14x40 with M-1's on top and started shooting a drop chart.
Heres a look at the scope on that rifle.
I droped the whole thing in a McMillan classic black/gray/white swirly.
That old 700 has come back to life as my main big game rifle again.
Heres a picture of the rifle on my bench, I was working up a load with 162gr A-max's for long range rock shooting.
A picture of the 162gr A'max next to a 160gr nosler accubond.
One of my target practice set up.
I picked that rifle to show some guys on another forum that turrets have a plce on a hunting rifle.
This picture is from the target looking back to where I was shooting from, on top of the ridge.
I use a video camera when I'm shooting solo, I veiw that shots that I dont spot through my scope on the little fold out screen.
This was the first time with the video camera, the first shot I put over the steel to see how much dust would get kicked up and how well it showed up on video. Most of this is with my 7mag, a few shots was the 300RUM.
BTW I dont hunt game at those ranges.
