if that's a S by the model #, its a Savage built in the USA. #4 mark ? can't read it.

Got a pic of the whole rifle?
The "Santa Fe" on the magazine makes me think it's a converted "Santa Fe Jungle Carbine," you might google that.

Enfield No 4 Mk 1 built by Savage Arms, converted by Golden State and apparently sporterized either during said conversion or after.
Chambered in .303 Brit or converted to .308 Win?

It could be what Golden State called the Santa Fe Mountaineer with that style stock.

That is a rimmed cartridge. 303 British. Although the actual bullet diameter is .312 if you decide to measure it

Really too bad they converted that one... it was originally a US Property marked rifle made by Savage under the Lend/Lease program. Most likely converted by Golden State as mentioned, or by someone later to emulate the Golden State Sante Fe (much less likely).
