Say I order from an online seller and they are willing to ship, but there's a clear digital paper trail of the sale.

I'm confused about when it's legal and when it's salty:

1. If it's for a pistol that I already have a threaded barrel for, I'm good, I think? No new salty.

2. If it's for a pistol that DOESN'T already have a threaded barrel, but I owned the pistol before the salty laws.... ?

3. If it's for a pistol that DOESN'T already have a threaded barrel, and I bought the pistol after the salty law.... ?

Yeah I know, don't ask don't tell, but under which circumstances am I ok even if Uncle Bob finds the receipt?

I wish I had an answer for you, I don’t. I only have a hugely reprehensible hatred for the cronies that have legislated such a pile of malarkey that even those of us that read it with the most discerning eye for compliance fear legal noncompliance.

It’s about time to dig them up gentlemen.

Sorry for the off post hkhnm, this has me at my wits end

1 is legal. You're not manufacturing a new AW.

2 is legal if the pistol is already an "assault weapon" (eg, shroud, mag outside the grip, other features), illegal if not (eg, standard glock 19 having a threaded barrel added).

3 is most likely illegal, unless the pistol was an "assault weapon" that you had already illegal imported or manufactured.

Statute of limitations for prosecution is two years. Possession is legal. Don't violate the law. Nothing in here is legal advice and is not necessarily reliable or correct, hire an attorney if you have questions.

OK then, I get no "NEW" builds or purchases of threaded bbl's for evil -killy semi autos..
but what about "repair " parts for an old gun that many of us probably maybe have?
