Most information is publicly available from WSP at
https://www.wsp.wa.gov/firearms-background-division/ for everyone, you don't have to be an FFL to get it.
For example, here are their most recent communications to FFLs in December:
https://www.wsp.wa.gov/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/WA-FFL-Alert.pdfhttps://www.wsp.wa.gov/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/WSP-Firearms-Background-Division-Update-December-2023.pdfThe way I get it, regardless of number of transfers and type of firearm (including former 'other' category), if the background transfer check is initiated before January 1st then you can pick up the firearm after 10 business days if no response, even if that goes to January. Current background checks appear to happen all over, may be 1 day for some, 6 or more for others. Transfers initiated after January 1st get the training requirement, the minimum 10 business days wait and no more release after 10 business days if no response. So by all means, if you have an FFL that's not closed for Christmas and you know those stores will ship fast enough, go ahead and buy now all guns you can. After January 1st if I read correctly WSP may sit on those checks as long as they please, no incentive to hurry (like there is now, if they don't get at a check fast enough the buyer can get their gun anyway).
