I'm surprised how hard you guys tow the CPL line. Even if I had one, that's not necessarily guarantee of no wait. And like I said, I won't be a WA resident very much longer so it's a waste of money in my case.

FYI powderman is a police officer. That guy that told you "it helps us know who the good guys are" he's a cop.

Tow the line huh? Your split side jacket drapes over your tactical drop leg thigh rig when you sit down. Bam! Unlawfully concealing a deadly weapon. You're a felon.

Maybe we're just trying to help you. Fam.

It's a misdemeanor, not a felony. And one isn't required on private property...in some cases.

..I'm also a guy haha

Never been asked if I had a gun when pulled over.

Same for me. Never asked, never volunteered. Nobody has cared.

Also never been delayed on a purchase. My instant gratification always happens!

I meant additional attention from cops when I'm pulled over--since the CPL is tied to the DL.

I don't care about future waiting times either because this is the only non-C&R handgun I plan on buying.

???????????????????????????????? Since when?

When the state patrol puts your plate info I think it was, in the MCT, it also tells them if you have a CPL or not and even shows the pistol transfers. Gestapo level stuff!

No it doesn't show up that info.

Others have reported that it does, at least the pistol transfers.

Yes it does. Dispatch sees it in big green letters when they run your DL.

The actual pistol information is on another tab.

(Source: Actually have watched it happen.)

----

Why I usually hand over my CPL. I either A know the officer, or I am feeling confident enough in his demeanor that me showing him the "I am not a felon" card will only further defuse the situation. If I feel it will escalate, I usually just keep my mouth shut.

@VictoriasSecret: The reason that you have to redo the paperwork is that your 4473 has expired. They are only good for 30 days. The local PD gets your NICS Approval number - Lots of places have a no transfer until PD response. More than once I have had to had people redo their paperwork because a local PD screwed up and lost paperwork.

I saw it on a WSP ridealong. Pulled over a truck for having a homemade (lmao) trailer. The trooper put his info into the MCT, and it showed he had a CPL and had been transferred a Ruger .22.

Now, you have finally provided me with a good answer--the state paperwork gets lost. I'm assuming that's more of a possibility right now because of the increased volume of transfers due to the holidays?

It's the Local CLEO that loses the paperwork or doesn't get around to it. The state portion is more or less a notification, and illegal firearms registration documentation.

Yeah, it really is unnerving. IMO, it violates the 4th amendment. What do you think our chances are of getting the 9th circus to agree with me?
