Fortunately, it cost me nothing but time, so it won't be the end of the world if I accidentally destroy it. I'm mostly going to be using it for a scoped .22, so hopefully the misses will be few and the damage will be minimal.

I just saw one example on a Google search, then sorted through my scrap wood to see if I could replicate it. I'll see if I can write up a how-to. But if I had to do it again, I would build it differently. Namely, I would make it lighter and I would make it modular so it would be easy to assemble and disassemble. But since I winged it using random materials on hand, I'm pretty pleased with the finished product.

So is the idea that you shoot the clay on the bottom and a new one drops into place?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pretty sure that is the idea behind gravity fed. Gravity pulls it down into place.

My first design didn't feed consistently, so I made some adjustments to the feed guides, tested it, then made more adjustments until it worked reliably. The only thing left to do is sand off the rough spots. Plink-O for shooters!

The gradual taper at the bottom seems to act like a friction brake to slow down the bottom clay, and I think the whole stack remains in contact during the drop, or at least very close to it, so they manage to stay intact. The bottom clay wedges in there really tight, too. It takes 3-4 shots from a BB gun to break the entire thing so the next one will drop.

I am totally doing the clothespin one. And I can shoot REAL guns on my property! Well...at least rimfires anyway.
