Hey WAGUNNERS, Just wanted to share a tip for those of us who don't have dehumidifiers in our safe (due to cost) or whatever reason.

DAMPRID ...SOLD AT LOWES OR YOUR LOCAL HOME DEPOT..pick your poison.

I gave it a shot 2 months ago and the pics speak for themselves.....2 months later and it collected a half cup of moister. THE BEST $5 DOLLARS EVER SPENT..comes in a pack of two.

Hope this helps yall out.

Even better , three bags for $8 at Walmart:

Same company, but the bags can hang in your safe and collect the water in the bag for no mess.

For $20 you can get an electronic one that you only need to recharge once a month. 4 hours for full charge. No mess to clean because it dissipates the water when you charge it.

Dollar store also has some for, well, $1. I buy them for a small room in my basement or RV.

I have about eight 4-5 pound sacks of industrial desiccant.

Enough to keep a 30 foot long router rust free in transit by ship.

Looks like Top Ramen. How's it taste after it's rehydrated?

Probably a stupid question but does humidity collect in all safes or just those stored in a basement/garage? I have my safe in my bedroom closet and figured it wouldn't have more/less humidity then the rest of the house.

Good idea to have a safe heater (Golden Rod or equiv.) and desiccant. I use a couple large bags of the rechargeable desiccant used for shipping equipment and a heater. It has worked well for me and I live less than a quarter mile from the ocean.

Where do you keep your gun safe?
Mine is inside the house-living area.
