So the SBR thing has me thinking that i need to at least look into the different toy options. I really cant stand the goofy foam covered buffer tube so piston driven looks really good

So who here has one?? Brand? model? Any have easy folding butt stock attatching set ups. Reviews and discussion.........

Why not a SB15 pistol brace?

You still need a receiver extension (buffer tube) with a piston. The piston replaces the gas tube and a rod operates the bolt group instead of Das entering the bolt group and the bolt acting as a piston. He buffer and action spring are still there.
Olympic arms had a pistol where the action spring was in the front over the barrel, but the carrier and springs were proprietary. Para ordnance bought the ZM300 design and sold it as the TTR. But I haven't seen those in awhile.
There is a folding kit that can. E done to any AR. It adds a hinged piece between the receiver extension and receiver, and there is a p.ug that goes into the rear of your carrier. When the tube is folded, there is a detent blocking the carrier so it doesn't all out. It also means that you can't fire in folded like say the SCAR. Well you could. One time. I'm totally forgetting the name of this though.

The ARAK-21 upper doesn't require a buffer tube and you can get them with 12.5" barrels.

Here's one made by Tacdoc68.

My latest build using a Faxon ARAk-21 upper:

12.5 inch 5.56 (1:7) & 300 BLK (1:8) BAU combo
Seekins SP223 billet lower
POF drop in trigger w/KNS anti rotation pins
AAC Brakeout muzzle compensators (to be installed)
Magpul BUIS
Mepro 21 sight
ST22 pistol plug (in place of buffer tube) w/QD sling swivel
Hogue rubberized pistol grip

The goofy buffer tube is actually functional as a cheek weld..

Without it, it is a very inaccurate toy...If you learn to use the buffer tube as a cheek weld, you can hit stuff at 100 yards easy

Ummm.......an SBR would still have a stock.........which would replace that foam pad on the buffer tube.....so.....um.....what was the question?

just buy a AA 7.5 piston upper, buy a law tactical folder, get a sig brace and you will have happiness

I think there are only a few options without buffer..

the RRA pds is one, so is the sig556 pistols and then OLY arms has one that you probably won't be able to find anywhere..

then the ARAK21 conversions for the built it yourself guys...

don't think there's any others...

the other thing to think about is trying to shoot a bull pup, it really is almost an SBR with a legal barrel length..

tavors have come down to the 1700$ price range, I'd buy one instead of making an SBR..

AR pistol fun? While its technically not a AR, the Kel Tec PLR 16 is a blast, it takes AR mags, shoots .223/5.56 and takes a standard AR muzzle break/ compensator. It's light as can be, doesn't have the annoying AR pistol dildo on it. Highly recommend em, it's just a blast to shoot.

No, buffer tubes are not required, a folding stock is desirable... Thus sbr. Not liking the brace thing. Must be foldable

RRA is the type of stuff I'm thinking bout
