How to sell "Collection"? Legality/Help? Health complication

Im new here, been up in washington now for the past 9 months or so and I recently got whacked with a brain surgery (pituatary gland removal impacting optic nerve with complications) and need to free up funds from what I have left.
Been a rough last year, been running off savings while getting medically able to get back to work where my skills are mostly muscle related and now impacted so trying to shift careers and simply get back to where I was last year.
Everything is 100% legal, most of my buying/collecting was when I lived in CA and some TX. Mostly Semi-Auto's, few wheel guns and a few AR's of misc build.
I don't have the energy yet to meet people all over the place so I am trying to figure out how to sell them (some with accessories and i have a good bit of ammo) to maybe a gun shop or something like that?
Collection is varied, most never fired just slowly acquired over time but Dr Specialists aren't cheap, even with insurance so I have to liquidate which sucks but thats life I guess.
Anyone ever had to go through something like this before? Any suggestions would be great. Im in Everett, Local shop is West Coast Armory and only minutes away for an idea of location. Im going to take a bath it seems but like they say "You can't take it with you".
Thanks, i know its odd to be my first post... this is not a scam or anything of the sorts and without a doubt all fed/state laws will be followed.

sorry to hear about your health problems and your medical costs. You will really take a bath if you sell them out right to a gun shop. I understand you don`t want to do one sell here and one sell there but if you don`t mind a suggestion maybe you could list here what you have to sell and arrange to meet those who want to buy at one time or just a couple times that are convenient to you. You might find someone who wants most of your collection. We have some great people here and I am sure they could help you out too. no use in getting ripped off due to your circumstances.

Welcome to WaGuns, Joe. I like what lionhrt said above. Sure, throw the information up here and see what happens. if it looks like too much hassle, you can bail out as long as you haven't made commitments to anyone. Another thought would be to put your guns for sale at a gun store, on consignment. I know we have some stores in the south end that do that; I'm not sure what's up there in the Everett area.

Find a good local "kitchen table" FFL and have him sell your guns for you, small guy FFL's don't charge a ton and are not too much hassle.
OR list them here and meet at shop near you only.

Adventure Sports in Lynnwood does consignments. I've never sold anything through them, but I've been a buyer. They treated me well. Maybe that's an option that would be relatively hassle free.
Another option is DJ's Loan in Bothell. No personal experience but I hear good things about them.
Sorry to hear of your health problems. Hope you recover quickly!

All of us are happy to have you here, and sorry to hear of your travails. This is a sad way to join the community, hopefully your treatment will prevail, and we will see you well on the other side!
Following the suggestions of the others. If you have the energy to do so, simply list everything here that you want to sell. Pictures are most helpful. A short few sentences on each item would be sufficient. Then, state something like this: "All sales will be done, in cash, on XX Month YY Date, at ABC Gun Shop, buyer pays for the transfer. Between hours of Noon and 2pm." Give a few weeks to get it done, and make every buyer come to you. That way the terms are clear, and nobody will ask for "can you ship?" etc.

The 2A guys and jeep people seem to bring the most amazing and helpful others passionate about the sport and maintaining our rights. This weekend I'll do a list and some photos with descriptions with them. Top of my head... nib ruger 10/22, ruger mkiii rp, buckmuck (gotta find model)... ruger convertibles one 45/45lc nickel I believe never shot, ruger convertible 22lr/22mag, CZ tactical sport 9mm, gen 3 glock 19 tan/black, nib glock 43? It's the g17 bigger brother in 9mm with optic mount. Nib ruger LCP2. M&p 357sig with .40cal barrel full size, CZ 75b never shot, re-run in the early 2000's of the S&W 520 titanium cylinder, sig p320 9mm fs, 1911 5" STI 9mm range master nib, Springfield loaded 1911 .45 been customized by a great known smith down in SoCal, metro arms 5" 1911 45acpand I'm sure I'm forgetting a few. Most have extra parts or original parts that have been swapped and a lot of mags for them... then there is the ammo. Most NIB factory stuff, a lot of ammo from a great friend and ffl in SoCal who uses once fired brass straight from local pd's practice/qualification days and a few thousand from LAX ammo which I've never had a problem with. I'll get to work on the list. Thanks everyone. I'll get it done this weekend.

Im very sorry to hear about your troubles. As others have said listing them here will likely net you more than going the gun shop route. From what you have listed you have at least a few that I would be interested in and I am sure you will find no shortage of interest here from others. Also, people here probably won't bust your balls haggling on prices as much as trying to offload them elsewhere.

Personal weapons are what raised mankind out of the mud, and the rifle is the queen of personal weapons. For this reason it exercises a curious influence over the minds of most men, and in its best examples it constitutes an object of affection unmatched by any other inanimate object.

Trying to sell here as a "whole" collection will not happen. 1. If someone does have enough money for all, they won't spend it. 2. You will be insulted by the offers. 3. No matter how many times you state: "All or nothing", you will still be asked to only sell "these" and "no thanks" on those.
Been there, done that.

If you decide to go the consignment/gun store route, I would suggest taking your list to Sound Loan & Pawn in Everett, and talk to Jeff. He does consignments for reasonable prices.
Adventure Sports is one of my favorites, but I would bet their consignment fees are higher.

Pick out the ones you don't want, figure out what triple their value is, and get a hold of a couple Seattle TV news reporters. Tell them you have to sell your guns to pay medical bills, but would rather have them destroyed than 'end up on the streets'.
Mayor Murray will be calling you in a half hour about the location of the press release where you can receive your 2X4 foot check.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Both Adventure Sports and DJ's are quality people. I've dealt with Adventure Sports many times over the years and wouldn't hesitate consigning my firearms there. Knowing your circumstance they may well give them a little "push" rather than just letting them sit on a "consignment rack" like many others do. You may also check with West Coast Armory (North) as they are in S. Everett (Airport Road just west of Hwy 99). Their predecessor used to do consignments but I don't know if they do. Couldn't hurt to ask.

Cabelas will come out to your house, and give you an appraisal of what it's worth. They will offer about 60% for the lot, but your done in one lump sum. You can get a better price individually, but sometimes the convenience is worth it. Best wishes.

Both DJ's Loan and Sport and Sound Loan and Pawn are great options for you. Both have the very best people. Sorry to hear about your health problems and best of luck with your sale.
P. for overall foot traffic and exposure I would lean toward DJ's. Talk to Bruce. Hell of a good guy.
