We just spent about $300 last week to have a tech come out and "tweak" our system's pressure switch (and some other minor stuff) because our furnace stopped working. Then just this morning another one of their techs came out to do our annual service and has informed us that we need either a $700 temporary fix (replace main fan motor I think, haven't seen the quote yet), or a total replacement for $5300. 10 years ago we bought an 80% gas furnace with a 20 year guarantee, and we've already had to replace the main fan motor for $500 a couple of years ago (not covered under warranty, WTF?). I'm not happy about this turn of events, and not sure I trust this company any longer.
Is there someone on here in the general Duvall area who'd be willing to take a look at it for me and give me a no BS assessment? It's in a reasonably well lit crawl space, that's about 4' high or so. I don't expect you to do it for free, what I'm looking for is an unbiased opinion.
I think I can move around down there now on my new knee, but would rather not. However, if it's definitely needing a replacement motor, I can recruit one of my nephews and his FIL to help me make the repair. I've replaced dozens of motors in my time in the USN, so that part should be straight forward, it's getting my nearly 60 year old ass down there on creaky knees to do the work.

Yea, something stinks. The fan motor should last more than a few years. Is the furnace working now?
Sorry I don't live closer or I'd take a look.

The furnace is working fine now. It looks like the motor itself is only about $100 or so (they're quoting it around $500). And they charge extra because it's in a crawl space, which I can understand to some extent.
