I'm going ask around one more time just to keep the YL happy.
Does anyone have any recommendations for companies that move safes?
I called NWSafe and OPA and both cost as much as getting movers to move the whole house, minus the safe which they won't touch. I have some friends on-board to help move it and Sunbelt Rental has a stair climber for $140 a day so it's likely going to be that option.

I'm curious. What was NW Safe's quote? They charged me like $300 or so for delivery. I'd expect it to be in that ballpark up to $600ish.

Maybe ask for a reconsideration. Mention WaGuns? Tell them about all the good things you've heard about NWS on WaGuns. Are stairs involved? Or a situation that requires an extra man to help with the move? I remember that there are upcharges for stairs or an extra man.

I bought the safe from them and yes there are stairs. Both parties charge additional for each stair after three stairs. They came here with two dudes.

My advice would be to suck it up and pay them. When stairs and a large safe are involved, it's worth it. 140 bucks for the stair climber, you will need to rent a truck, then you are responsible for any damage or injury? Screw it...pay them and watch.

dreadi? You man, are one cool dude. You can do most anything and i get that. I don't doubt you could pull it off if you really needed to. ....but the whole stair thing, how to get it into the truck, (Ramps and safe Jacks) and the possible dangers and consequences are not worth the 300 bucks in my opinion.
The size and weight of the safe are the deciding factors in my opinion, how big and heavy is it?

Also, may be more manageable if the door comes off.

Yeah I'm just a little guy safe compared to some you guys. I got one friend with a walk in vault. Safe number 2 will be about that size :thumbs2:

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk $440 plus tax to pick up, 48 hours later, deliver and install. Thanks. $440 seems reasonable to me considering the service offered. It includes pros who are less likely to screw up. And who are insured in case they do. When you said it was as much to move everything in the whole house, I was thinking $2000. That's what we paid a moving company last time we moved. Granted, they also packed everything up too. Now that kind of price to move a safe would be nuts... Personally, I'd pay them and let them handle the stairs and corners. Then again, I'm no good at drywall repair. ;) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
