80% help

My son & I bought an 80% jig and tried to do the job today. We pretty much butchered the processes. Part of the problem is the chuck in my Craftsman drill press keeps falling out. The other part is the submoa.com jig we bought may not be the best one for a beginner. Now wishing we would have bought something like the https://www.80percentarms.com/ jig as it seems far more straightforward.
I was wondering if there's anyone on the eastside who'd be willing to give us a hand. Is it even legal to help someone else finish an 80% lower without some kind of BATF paperwork or license?

I have done 3 polymer lowers. 2 from EP Armory(better), and one from Polymer80(crappy). I work in a machine shop, so I threw it in a Kurt vise, and went at it. Is it Aluminum, or Polymer? Any friends in the machinist industry?
