Guys, just want to let you know about a training class I went thru this last weekend. I posted a quick review on NFA but figuired I would here also as the training you will get for the price is of great value. Anyways the class was put on by High Dessert training out of Goldendale Wa, Instructors were Steve Shields, Troy Rockelman, and Mark Bryan. These guys have extensive training from Swat, Seal Team 6, combat medic, etc. Point blank you will not find a more well rounded group of instructors that has been there and done that around the PNW than this guys. My group consisted of drewp, and 2 others not on this board. All 4 guys are avid shooters that have never been thru an AR rfile training class before. Saying that Steve put a class together that challenged us, with the goal of at the end of the weekend we would be far more proficient with the rifle and that goal was met. The instructions were very sharp, professional, and safety was maintained thru out the 2 days we were there. Whatever your skill level Steve can put together a class that will further your abilities with a rifle/pistol etc. To say I am very satisfied with the class is not saying enough, as we're already planning another trip here soon. So if your after high quality, real world training at a very economical price give Steve a call 509-774-8252. Cost per day is $125.00, and worth every penny.

This class was specific to running the AR15. Drills ranged from shot placement, engaging multiple targets, running the platform more efficiently, procedures when failure to fire happens, rapid mag changes, rapid fire to focused pinpoint shooting, and everything in between. Tactics were very well explained, and reinforced thru out the 2 days. Steve and Troy will challenge your skills whether your a beginner/advanced/advanced tactics. The price is very economical, but doesn't reflect in the quality of training your going to get. Since he just opened his shooting classes the price is surely to go up as he gets more known.

We just started as an official training company, and are not affiliated with the other "peeps" in any way, shape, or form.

After research, this name was chosen...so am surprised that there is another shooting school with that name.

We are based in Washington, and plan on staying in the Northwest, Washington, Oregon, and Idaho.

We do not provide room or board, that is the responsibility of the client.

I would like to introduce a new firearms training company located just outside of Goldendale Washington, Cerberus Training Group.

To address Porters post, he had made a post on another forum about 18 months ago seeking local training. I chimed in and offered to put on a class. Well after much working around everyone's schedule, it came to pass as promised. Myself and my crew put on a two day rifle class for Porter, and three others.

The High Desert name was being kicked around at the time of the class, but have since settled on Cerberus Training Group.

The group consists of myself, 27 years of LE experience. Firearms instructor since 1993. Taught firearms at the academy, certified other LE instructors and helped rewrite the academy training curriculum, and have been in a few scrapes on the street.
Number two man is Troy, one of the last members of Seal Team 6 that was chosen by Marcinko, aka Red Cell...check out the book. After Red Cell, he did some work in North Korea and other covert operations, and did a tour during Desert Storm. Also worked as executive protection overseas, and was a Police Officer for 3 years.
Last but not least, Mark. Paramedic for most of his life, reserve Deputy and has run the ambulance and head paramedic for the county, also combat medic trained.

This group came about after a discussion among us, realizing the mass purchase of firearms over the last year but not seeing any reasonable priced training. Please chime in, but we were hard pressed to find any two day firearms training for under 400.00. Add the cost of travel, lodging etc., I think we can see the cost of a weekend training trip to be pushing 700.00+
Also, my wife saw a post on facebook about a women's firearms training. It was 95.00 for 6 hours, but no live fire. Her friends were talking about it, and she asked what I thought. Quite a bit of money for only 6 hours, and no range time.

So was born Cerberus Training Group. Three guys with experience to share for a reasonable cost, 125.00 per day, or 250.00 for a two day class. The web site is not up yet, but is being worked on and a schedule is forth coming.

The class that was put on for Porter and crew was based on running the AR platform for efficiency. Basic combat marksmanship skills, manipulations, combined with accuracy and speed drills...this is the basic carbine class. The next tier up is SAT = Skills, Action and Technique. This incorporates positional drills, movement, and team skills.
We do not believe in "Advanced Gunfighting". If you're involved in a shooting or gunfight, it is what it is and you must be able to adapt to however it plays out. After sitting in on many AA debriefs, haven't heard anyone state they were in a "Basic" or "Advanced" gunfight. But what I have heard many times, they didn't feel adequately trained for the occasion. We hope to fix that at a very reasonable price.

I have been humbly blessed with the training I've received over the years, starting back in 1987. With the advent of the LE Firearms Instructors Assoc, have been able to take classes from the patriarchs of combat shooting...Chapman, Farnam, Rogers, Taylor, Smith, Awerbuck, Jarret, Magpul, LMS and Col Cooper to name a few. Combined the above with street, military, and medical experience, I think we have a well rounded team.

Well, it sounds like we've got some training company name confusion here.

Regardless, I'd like to welcome both High Desert Training and Cerberus Training Group to WaGuns. :wavey:

Post subject:  Re: High Desert Training Goldendale Wa.

We were kicking around the name at the time of the class, but found another company with that name.
Even though they are in Arizona, we decided it best not to infringe on their established name.

I started this training group based on what I've seen around the Northwest, that is...not finding a training facility that is affordable to a wide range of people.

Most schools offer a 2 day class that is in the 400.00 range, with quite a few asking more than that.

We are at 250.00 for a two day class, and offer all skill levels. We already put on 2 day rifle class, which included Porter who started this thread.

The website is in the works and should be up by the first of the month, then I'll be making posts about upcoming classes.
