I bought a 10/22 10+ years ago. I rarely shoot it. I purchased the trigger upgrade when it came out and installed a large magazine release. In my years of shooting it, I never could get it to consistently chamber rounds. I bought another 10 round magazine and a 25 rounder. Still no joy. No amount of cleaning would result in it consistantly chambering rounds. Here is what they looked like. I contacted Ruger about my problem. I paid for a $30 prepaid shipping label and shipped it off to them. Well it just came back. New bolt and guide rod assembly. Function checked with all my magazines. It was out of warrenty so they say but I have to admit. Not bad customer service.

Remember the days when those rounds in that condition could sell for $5?
Cool they fixed your rifle out of warranty...

I remember sending in a super redhawk because it developed a chip on the outside of the barrel throat area and they sent me a new one with a rock solid lock up. Hard to argue with that...

Ruger has always been good about sending out various parts for free, as are most mfg's. A lot cheaper than a product liability suit.

How could it be out of warranty? They don't have a warranty. They just fix their guns for life, and you don't have to be the original owner.

I had a great experience w/ ruger CS recently. suffice to say- they exceeded my expectations, performed services I expected to pay for & did so all w/in 2 weeks from the time I dropped it off to FEDEX.
I'd strongly consider another Ruger .......

One of these days I need to get my P-85 sent in for the safety recall. I looked into it a while back and it was going to cost me about 1/3 the value of the pistol to ship it back to them, I couldn't see the value in that for the fix. However, it looks like they're now providing a post paid shipping box, so I can ship it both directions for free. Guess it's time to get the work done. Edit: I've sent them an email with the information they requested, see how it goes. Thanks for this reminder Jaime.

Just an update after I emailed Ruger's CS. They've confirmed that my P85 needs the recall work performed, shipped a shipping box to me (to arrive sometime next week), and provided a shipping label to ship the pistol back to them. I'm not sure there's much more you could ask for.
I was kind of surprised they asked that I ship the magazines back to them as well. I'm kind of assuming they're not interested in any after market ones, anybody know?

I don't know anything about the specific Ruger issues . . . but I wouldn't send them any mags that didn't originally come with the gun, and I sure as hell wouldn't send them any aftermarket mags.

I sent them all my mags to rule out any possible issues with them. I also marked that I sent them magazines and they sent them all back.

I just got my P-85 back from them this afternoon with a clean bill of health and a free magazine. Cost me nothing other than time. Not sure you can ask more from a CS experience.

I second (or third, fourth or fifth). I finally took my sons Ruger American 243 out to sight in. It was one of the Walmart clearance guns, ends up it was an early model. Anyways, after loading the mag for the first time, the first round chambered, the other 3 stayed in the mag. It took a severe thwack on the bench to move those rounds up.... everytime. One call to Ruger customer service (last friday) gave them my serial number and explained the issue (known issue for early models apparently, my 2015 308 has no problems). Today in my mailbox was 2 new mags. I did not ask for 2, but they sent me 2. I did try the new ones, they work. I am happy.
