Ummm it was announced. Pretty sure Dan did a post when he was shutting down.

It's complicated. My business partner signed up this go around. The clown is a decent engineer but not a finance or relationship guy. Some kind of BS with his alcoholic ex wife lowered his credit. Not terrible or anything but he used his name when he went to AT&T to "get us a deal".

I have 20 lines in my account that I had to move over 14 days.. You think your 8 were a bitch to do? So now we have the AT&T Unlimited Plus, which after discounts and whatnot is about $50/person OTD for Unlimited Talk/Text/Data. Plus we get full usage in Mexico and Canada, AT&T Gold Thanks discounts and everybody gets free HBO.

Yeah, the ability to use text / data in so many countries was a factor for us as well. We have relatives in Europe, Asia, Australia and plans to travel to Central or South America, and you can use your phone in all those places (135 countries now) without having to purchase a SIM card to do so, it just works (untested by us, but plenty of other people report that it works great).

We're on their family plan, $75 / month for the both of us, we usually use less than our 2gb/each, so that's reduced a little bit, plus the $22/month for my phone (we had to purchase hers outright when we moved to the relatively new family plan, we couldn't keep it on the interest free loan and move it to my account for some reason). Our monthly bill is usually right around $85, and that'll drop to $65 or so once my phone's paid off.

I owe an update.

First of all, finally on Tuesday AM April 25, my wife's phone was 100% functional. Main technical problem was getting into 4G LTE mode. Problem finally discovered, SIM card provided by At&T corporate store was set up for a BlackBerry. Get your head around that.

As of yesterday 4/27, the 4 $150 charges were still there, but AT&T did put 3 of them against the bill putting us into credit territory, one as a deposit. Stew on it.

Except you don't leav a note when you call 611. You talk to an idiot computer or idiot phone jockeys. So anyway the store doesn't get her ported over and she comes home and wow she is steamed. Plus no SIM card. Uggh!

So I call 611.........and I'm steaming.......so the first chair lounger says that the store was wrong and what they were trying to do is change her over to the head of the account. I say well yo better let them know (silence)........then he throws me to sloucher gal who can supposedly ("definitely") help me, but after three people some fucking screen weasel actually starts the process. I give him the pin and other stuff (4th time since on the hook)........and he finds the phone. The SIM card will be sent either the 19th or the 20th or maybe the 21st. Cool about done......"Sir that will be a $150 deposit". What? I'm just adding a line............fck...............I am livid..........he says that he can't add it to the bill, need a CC and after 12 months supposedly get deposit back..........I give in. Done. Hang up. Phone rings.........sir your card address doesn't match the account address................holy shit........wow...........done

So after all this, can't use phone yet. I think I will venture in and see if I can at least get damn deposit back

+1 for Project Fi. I've been single it for almost 5 months now and i working out great for me so far. I almost always have wifi access so I've yet to go over 1gb of mobile data usage. My bill is about $32/mo after taxes.

I posted my referral code in the pif section. Feel free to use it or ask one of the other guys here for their code. It means $20 off your next bill for both parties.

P.S. - I left AT&T after a decade. I was clinging to my grandfathered unlimited data plan but they raised the price up to $115/mo. It was time to go.
