So, I ordered this up:
Image

When I got it, the square drive from my torque wrench won't go all the way through, as shown in the picture. It only goes in about half way.

So, I send an email to Stacie at Spike's Tactical (I had her name, because I originally had to make contact with them to find out when they were going to ship it out):

"Hi Stacie,
I just wanted to provide some feedback on the product I received.

If you look at it, it has a square hole punched into it. That hole is to attach a torque wrench.

It was not manufactured 100% correct. The torque wrench can be inserted from one side only, and then it only goes about half way through. The hole actually has a slight internal taper to it.

I'm going to have to take a file and remove some material from the inside of the hole so the wratchet post can be fully inserted.

The Customer shouldn't have to finish the job.

Please forward to your QA team so they can make note."

No acknowledgement or response from Spikes.

So, one thumb down for a half ass job. I can finish it, but I shouldn't have to.
One thumb down for being blown off by Spikes when I took the time to bring the problem to their attention.

sorry if I misunderstood.. did the picture show the after you fixed it or is that what the before looks like...

if that's the after, then definitely they messed up, as it needs to at least clear the other side..

Well I have only had one encounter with Spikes team, and except for the long ass shipping (TOTALLY) free out and in, service was top notch. Ended up being no problem (I'm a fuck tard with gas block install problems) but they sent it back with a full size patch and bunch of stickers, their retail for like 10 bucks! I was impressed, and give them two thumbs up!
I would honestly try again.

I've had several dealings with spikes... Mainly pleasant, 'cept that one time I was on hold for an hour why they where trying to locate my bcg. I wasn't aware that they made their own tools.

I've had this happen on other AR tools from different mfgs too. For me, they don't seem to take into account the thick coating they apply to the material.

Who made your torque wrench? Considered that it isn't the Spike's barrel wrench thats the problem?

I think I see your point, but if it were the wire check it should still be able to go in both sides of the wrench. Even if the ball werestcuk, or if the wrench had a taper.

Depends entirely how out of spec the 2 pieces are individually. In theory the torque wrench "should" only be used on the opposite side of the barrel wrench away from the receiver so it's possible the taper is deisnged that way and intentional. I dont have a Spike's barrel wrench and don't care about Spike's 1 way or another, it just occured to me that unless you use a tool for work most people (myself included) cheap out on things like torque wrenches. At one time I had to use a torque wrench daily for a job so I have a couple in my tool box but the only thing I've used a torque wrench for in the last 14 years is building uppers.
