Seems like a good deal. I order flowers for friends and family at least 10 times a year. Think standard shipping is $10-$15 per order. https://www.ftd.com/3316/catalog/catego ... _trigger=1

Every time I've tried to send FTD they screwed up the order or failed to deliver.

Flower shops hate FTD & 1-800-flowers....
They both get a cut right off the top, plus, there are other fees charged to the shops.
So, after fees, that 39.99 arrangement might end up with $20-25 worth of flowers.
Plus, all those great photos taken in a California summer with the best available flowers, may not be what's available in Syracuse, NY in the dead of winter.
If you send flowers to the same few people, best bet is to go online & find a shop near them with good reviews. Call the shop, ask for the owner or manager, and say you're calling directly instead of using either of the services, in the hopes that you can get a better arrangement since they don't have to give money away.
They will appreciate that you understand.
You can then ask what they have in stock that's nice (or look at their website with their own pics).
The arrangements people get will be MUCH nicer.
If it's just about the money, and being able to SAY you sent flowers, then the $20 thing might be the way to roll.

We've had good luck with FTD most of the time. For my mom I always order the 'EXQUISITE' size with the vase. $100 or so. And always ask for a pic of how it looks on her table in case I have to call and ask for a credit.
Place that delivers for FTD is almost always the local florist I used to call directly, but found it's cheaper to get them through FTD. Mom lives in a house in an upscale retirement community. They know the floral delivery drivers by name. Probably account for half the traffic through there. Florists know who the frequent flyers are.

Sounds like you have it down.
They wouldn't want a bad rep in a retirement community, and you're spending a good amount of money.
Low money, at a busy shop, to a generic address with no repercussions, what I wrote still matters.
Part of the country & size of towns matter.
