My castle nut was tight on the buffer tube.
Looked slightly cross threaded, so backed it off and started again.
Threads look perfect and it turns easily on the threads now.

Front takedown pin may have been a tad tight going in but it did go in.

The trigger guard and mag release pins were very tight, but I think it's more the receiver than anything.

Got mine. Barrel has no stamping on it, hadn't seen that before. The keymod is fake on the handguard without the proper milling on the backside. That made it easier to take the chop saw to the handguard though to shorten it to fit my golf ball launcher. Lol. Great buy.

The threads on my buffer tube were messed up, so I'm going to need a new one. I didn't even think to check the keymod machining. I guess I got what I paid for. :ROFLMAO:

Yeah....the threads on the buffer tube i received weren't right on mine either. My castle nut was literally chasing the threads. I put this kit on an Anderson lower and the front take down pin didn't fit right either, i had to sand it down quite a bit to get it to fit. Did anybody else experience that problem as well ?

Did you by chance try a different castle nut? My castle nut just had some rough machining where it left some sharp edges in the threads by where the nut was cut for the castle part for the wrench to tighten it. My takedown pins fit perfect with nice fit upper to lower on all but a cheap 80% polymer.

The barrel threads were kind of jagged, so I had to take it easy putting on my flaming pig. Twist a few turns on, back off, repeat till fully seated.

So aah... is this still worth it? Or am I likely to replace so many parts the value proposition vanishes?

I just want a simple, reliable pistol build for car carry and maybe home defense. My concerns is this won't pass the reliability mark to be a defensive weapon?

I bought one to build a really cheap pistol, just because I could. I need to buy a new buffer tube for it, but had it not been for that it would have been a sub-$400 complete AR (minus optic). So to me, it was worth it, but if the other members' posts are any indication, you're probably better off paying a little bit more for a kit from PSA because the quality of the parts will almost certainly be better. That, and PSA has more kit offerings, so you can be a bit more selective.

I bought mine with the sole purpose of being a trunk/camping gun. I had extra parts in my AR bin that I planned on swapping out most of the items to anyways.

All in all, Im happy with it.

Glad I saved my money for a more quality product.

I will stick with Palmetto State Armory for just a few dollars more.

I haven't built mine yet, but I wanted a cheap AR pistol. Any body have a lead on cheap BCGs? Sub $90.

Thanks SFC, I think I like Tom's the best.
Did anybody see the PSA was $985? That's a heck of a deal!

My buddy ordered one of these as well.
Delivery arrived today without any delays.

https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction?tLabels=9405511699000362435086

He said it arrived in a USPS box with no instructions or even a sheet listing all of the parts.
I have a feeling this will be another one of his "shoebox projects" that will end sitting in his garage for the next 70+ years collecting dust.

I can't say I've bought a ton but maybe 7 rifle kits. Mostly psa but a few from other sources. I can't remember seeing anything other than the basic receipt inside saying what I ordered. Never any instructions, and I wouldn't expect that.

Has anybody shot theirs yet? I shot a few blanks and it seamed like the chamber might be a bit tight on mine, had to use the forward assist and then had to really pull the round out but it could be the particular blanks. I'll check my chamber soon.

Finished mine, but haven't shot it yet.
Found a use for my 20mW green laser (below the Streamlight TLR-1S).

Edit: Bit nose heavy, probably take the laser off.
But, can see it well at 100 yards in bright sunlight.
